Thinking of Purchasing Brother mfc 8890dw

I need a aio in my home office. My priorities in order are: text printing quality and speed; fax speed; and easy connectibility. Does anyone have a Brother mfc 889dw or any familiarity with it. If so, do you recommend or have an alternate recommendation? Thanks very much.

Getting Disk Boot Failure ... message Help!!

Need Help Upgrading to Run Dual Monitors

I am not against going the VGA-to-DVI adapter route. I was told that the 2 dvi output video card would be better. Scratch that advice apparently. Could you please recommend what VGA-to-DVI adapter you recommend? My most important priority is getting something that will work well. Thanks.

I stopped installation last night because I needed more info on settings. Now when I start computer I get "error loading operating system" I have cd rom as top boot priority, I have reinserted the cd rom installation disk. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Let me explain why I asked in the first place. This latitude C640 is replacing the one I had that I have to return at the end of the lease, and it was so much slower than my original c640. You guys are right, a windows reinstall is something I would like to avoid for awhile. Again, thanks to all.

I think I'm on my way now. :) I've installed spybot s&d and it identifed and took care of 8 problems. The only things besides the Kasparsky anti-virus are volume and remove hardware safely, so that doesn't seem too bad. Thanks again to everyone who responded for all the help. :D

Thank you, your response is very informative. 2.0 GHz pentium 4-M 512MG/40GH Hard Drive, dvd drive, and dsl (earthlink). I put on anti-virus software (starts with a K) and did a complete scan of the computer, showing no viruses.

Here's the issue: when you first boot the system up and then open a program or go onto the internet, it is extremely slow. However, when reopening programs, then it opens at normal speeds. I'm not very experienced, and have no idea what this problem could be. If serious, I want to return...

I went on newegg last night to order and Newegg has 4 different models. Is one preferable? Boy, am I confused. I'm looking for the model that has the best chance of letting me unlock the 4 pipes to make 16 pipes, or whatever the terminalogy is. TIA.

Good point. No I didn't. I bought the mobo from a forum member and it was missing a jumper and the i/o shield. I will check the jumpers, but I may have just got a bad deal.

? about adding new cdrw drive to old computer
