Thanks everyone for their replies! I emailed the manufacturers, and these are confirmed: Gigabyte, indeed, does final manufacturing in Taiwan on at least their Aorus line of boards. Supermicro, unfortunately only does sends out test/eval/prototyping in Taiwan, hence why many reviewed boards...

I haven't had cell reception up here in the Arctic Reception. Sporadic as we went rather close to shore.. but eventually shot up north ... only to encounter lots of ice, perpetual daylight, walruses pooping on ice, and one lone polar bear around 72 deg north...

The two other crashes were deemed pilot error though. But we'll see how the investigation pans out for this. Damn Halladay only had it for a month too. Sigh RIP :'(
