easy RAID question

I only have one 60GB HD that I'm free to use right now. So will my system operate correctly with only one hard drive on a board with built in RAID? It just means I can't use the RAID feature right? I plan on getting another HD to use in the future but can't afford to get one now. So I need to...

IRQ settings?

Is Antec 350w PSU enought for this system?

Should be more than enough. You really don't have that much in your computer. I don't know why your enlight 300w didn't work with it either unless it was bad ps. You should be just fine with an Antec though, nice solid power supplys.

what multiplayer game is the best?

I would recommend the MSI board. Although supposedly rated a little slower in speed than other mobos of the same chipset it makes up for it in stability. I should mention the Epox board you want is also $105 at newegg.com though. So there's no difference price wise that will help you make up...

SLOW GF3 SLOW

Thats true, especially if that SB Live is sharing the same IRQ as your vid card. If you have the sound card in the first pci slot it usually is connected with the vid card in some way and can take away your resources from what I heard.

cold boot problem

I have a similar problem. After a cold boot it just freezes in dos mode while it's trying to boot into windows. If I let it just stay froze like that for 10-15 minutes then reboot it will make it into windows fine. I don't know if you have the EXACT same problem, but mine is actually a via...

Thanks for clearing that up Nothinman. I do have Win98 SE and reboot often. So that would explain why I haven't had a problem yet. I didn't know that you absolutely needed one in NT either. I have Win XP also and was unaware that it creates one for you too. Everyones learning something here...

Swap File Size

Any standard user with a 700 MB of RAM doesn't even need a swap file. I have 640 MB of ram and don't use one at all because my main memory never gets used up. Seeing since I don't know how much ram your system will actually use though to be safe I would recommend a VM swap file the same size...

What's the highest quality GF3 Ti200 board?

I second the vote for Gainward, for the best Ti200 card. I didn't know you could overclock one to 250/530 with stock cooling though, thats nice. That just blows my mind though, so I refuse to believe it. You must have 2 other case fans blowing directly on the card. ;)

My New Radeon and My Low 3Dmark2001 Score

I use a program called "Hz Tool" to lock my Hz rate. At least until I reformat the hard drive. :) I'm not sure if your 3D Mark will acknowledge the change still, but it's worth a try. It works for me at least. I can't remember where I got Hz Tool, but it's a very small progam, just do a search...

Thats an extremely low score, you should be getting at the least 6000. What motherboard do you have and what chipset? I have the same problem with my GF3 Ti200, which turned out to be a Via Chipset issue... I'm not saying thats your problem, but someone with a GF3 doesn't get a super low...

3DMark 2001 scores...where should I be?

Under the Direct 3d tab you guys are looking at there should be a button toward the bottom of that page that says "More Direct3D. Thats where you can disable the vertical sync.

Well I moved the sound card which was in the 1st pci slot. Now the display controller doesn't share an irq with anything else. I still have no increased performance though. As you may of guessed I'm not a pro at this stuff, so I'll throw in another thing here. :) I have all this stuff installed...

GF3 Ti200 problems

I just noticed something. On the boot up screen under the devices listed it shows Multimedia device and Display Adapter device as using the same IRQ, IRQ 10. So does that mean that sound and video card are sharing the same IRQ? Would that be hindering my performace?

It looks like it's an old Aureal Vortex AU8830. I don't have the instruction book for that certain product so I'm not sure if thats the offical name. :-( Aureal being out of business, the latest drivers I could find were Aureal 3.0 soundcard drivers version 4.06.2048.21
