The real laugh is the fact that sse2 optimization ( And yes it is obviously sse2 optimized considering the original was already sse optimized and since amd has same sse codes yet didn't realize same percent boost)...

The audigy is newer and pretty much a toss-up on price...
The GF2 pros are by far the best bang for the buck in video cards IMO....The radeon 64mb for more can not really compare to the GF2 pro or ti models...I know cause I have had them both...
Couple suggestions....
1) Go with the ECS sis 735 mobo... a lot cheaper and a better performing chipset then the epox...Not a big ocer board though if that matters...The shuttle kt266a board is also cheap and better performer then the epox...
2) I would probably go with the newer audigy...
I think the ams3 may have to do with where it is manufactured....I don't know that...
Though the "b" on the end means it is only a 200mhz front side bus chip...I am not sure if the board will allow this or not...However you could always unlock the chip (or it comes unlocked) drop multiplier and...

I agree with above...I generally like to buy yhe chips when they fall to 100-150 range. This often means I am not buying the greatest, but I usually get a good deal. I usually jump in 300-400mhz jumps so I am looking in the future at a reasonably priced 1900+ (1.6ghz). Maybe right after the new...

athlon (athlon classics) are slot version of the chip and spanned from 600-1000mhz...L2 cache didn't run at full processor speed (I think like 2/5)
tbird was the next derivative...It change to a socket form and l2 cache ran at full speed...
Yep!!! I can see the 10 percent boost in same speed processors...I believe the hardware prefetch can really help here...I don't think it is much helped by the sse codings as I have a bit of experience with flaskmpeg and most of the optimizations rarely worked and most guides told you to stick to...
I think the ti200 would just equal the gainward geforce 2 pro...it is extremely overcockable...hell that is what it is marketed for...
Unless you are willing to spend 40-50 more to jump to the low end gf3 ti200 get the gainward GF2 pro /450...golden sample that is....

1.53GHZ is the true clock speed but thanks to amd and athon xp pr rating it is an 1800+ or in their minds equivalent to that of a 1800mhz tbird (if it would go that high)

Well I know the 1.53ghz athlon 1800+ does...it is only an 11.5 multiplier...ECS already has stated it supports xp'sand one article I saw weeks ago said it could support up to 1.6ghz...
I think the 1.53ghz 1800+ would be the only thing worth it in terms of performance with the advanced features...
Congratulations...I am going to wait as well but for the price to continue to fall..it has already fallen damn near in half in a short period of time...for datta cd-rw is fine for now...I have seen some dvd-r for home theater setups that will work great in taping my favorite shows or games...

Get the Lite-on dvd-rom lt-163....fastest reader of all 16x dvd-roms, plus one helluva dae ripper and cd-reader...and damn near silent!!!
Get at a 16x cd-rw...they are virtually 70-80 bucks now...look at the 16x...
sandorski, make sure in open media you grab the ifo file...that way i twill grab them all...I haven't had issue with that, but I have issue with the 2nd pass not being done cause it says it can't open my log file...
I have new prog w/ new 4.02 codec...I can't seem to get a working log file the system will open...
