Best HSF for barton 2500+ and Asus a7n8x

ThermalRight SLK-900U with a 92MM Tornado, that is what ive got on my 2100+ soon to be 2500+ Barton right now, cools its very nicely, with only slight capacitor bending going on. It also bolts onto your Motherboard so the worry of it falling off is nill. NJRM

Did you try disabling it in windows? Right click "My Computer" > Device Manager > Display Adapters > then try to disable it. JM

Copper shims/spacers for Athlon XP - necessary?

Ive used a Coppper Shim since my Duron 600. I dont see the point in not spending $10 to save over $100 dollars, sometimes even more, depending on what CPU you get. I dont think that it was the Shim that made you fry your CPU. I think that it shorted out by touching something, cause the HSF would...

OMG OMG!!! DID I JUST KILL MY SYSTEM!!!!

This happened to my friend, he took his CPU out of his old mobo to put it into his new KR7A-RAID, got everything hooked up, and turned it on, fans, lights and everything, but no video. He cracked his core, what a n00b :D JM

Causes of system locks during win2k install

Are you running it underclocked when you do the install? I would think that it would be heat but that isnt hot enough to cause that problem... JM

Where do you buy the VIA C3

<< That thing is extremely slow... Celeron 433 beat it hand-down on all benchmarks. P3-550 doesn't need a fan - I have that running in my other system. Just one case fan on the back. Perfectly cool, no crashes for weeks (Windows 2000). Forget about the C3, get a 1 GHz P3 and slap a weak fan...

KT266A and multiple sticks of DDR ram

Im not sure about this one, I have the Abit KR7A-Raid and 2 sticks of pc2100 Crucial, I was thinking about getting 3 sticks but decided not to for now. So I guess that it was a good thing that I didnt get 3 if they wont work in me board :( JM

Got my 1.2 T-bird :)

I run my 1.4@1.6Ghz, it is nice and fast, but With this abit kt7a-raid any FSB above 138 makes the USB's go nutzo, so I cant O/C using the FSB, that is why I got my Abit KR7A-Raid and 512mb pc2100 Crucial . Should be here in a few days *YAY*!!!!:D OVERCLOCKING BLISS! JM
