If you can, get the stainless version. The sapphire face is worth it alone. The stainless shows more wear and tear but my wife already scratched her sport on the face. I'm terrible about watches and bang them on door frames (doesn't help that I'm a large human). And my stainless is still...
Don't put an OWC SSD in any machine you want to boot up consistently. We put 6 of them in some MacBook Airs that customers had bought with super small SSD drives in them. Out of the 6 drives we installed, 4 had to be replaced due to failure. Not a great %.
I've come to the conclusion that you really don't need a filesystem browser on iOS. I use OneDrive and DropBox all day long without needing a native filesystem.
They went with Chromebooks because iPads were too fragile? They should enjoy their $200 laptops which will be a terrible experience for them then.
Sucks to be them.
I wonder since everything is converging what the % will be if iPads were included as well. Since MS has come out with Surface tablets/laptops that are hybrid devices.
"Computer market" doesn't mean what it did even 2 years ago.
The iPad pro is definitely NOT just a consumption device. I've gotten the opportunity to use one for a day and was blown away by the pencil and how the entire system worked. I've got two colleagues who have switched to one for their day-to-day work simply because they live in the cloud and use...
Sorry, your post makes no sense and is contrary to technological evolution. As processors become more efficient they can make smaller and lower power devices that are powerful enough to drive modern apps. Look at the iPad Pro, it's a killer device and a TABLET. Look at the Microsoft devices...
Ok, it's slower than other SSD drives I've used. I've got a 2012 Mac Mini with an SSD drive in it and that is significantly faster than the Macbook's SSD drive. It's still fast, just not as fast as other drives.
The keyboard is the future and once you get used to it you think the older style is antiquated. The lack of ports is the wave of the future. Thunderbolt 3 will use the USB-C connector and push 40Gbps. But yes the processor is slow as is the SSD drive in it. But for regular stuff it's fine.
I use one on a daily basis. It's fine for regular operations. Will I create deployment images on it? No. Will I live in Microsoft office and Safari? Yes. Will I put it in my coat pocket vs. a laptop bag? Yes.
I can't wait until thunderbolt 3 hits. Not sure if a desktop model would get it before the rest of the laptops but who knows. My official stab in the dark is that the macbook pros will get it along with 5K displays.
iMacs will go all 4K/5K with hopefully major upgrades on the low-end. The...
On day to day regular operations it will be a ton faster. It's the quick file access that will make a huge difference, the overall throughput only really comes into play if you're doing some rendering or something else that is really taxing the I/O of the drive.
I remember those cables! They are from when the iPod became Windows compatible. You had to charge the iPod via the FW cable even when connected to USB. I worked at Apple back then and the amount of support requests our genius bar got from Windows users regarding the cables not charging was...
