Anyone beat Dronez?

Bending the pins

Yeah, I had to wait two weeks for my replacement CPU:( I had everything I needed to build my new system but I had to RMA the CPU, was a bummer having to wait so long to build my new system. I'm kinda curious to see if bending the pins causes any ill effects...if not, then if I get bent pins on...

I was in the same situation as you, mine was an AMD Athlon XP 1.33GHz. I would definitely not recommend bending the pins so it will fit.....I'm friends with a tech guy from Staples(he actuallys knows what he's talking about, unlike some employees that work at BestBuy, Staples, etc.) and he said...

The CDRW is rated at 40x and the DVD is rated at 48x(both made by Lite-On), so it's probably going to be worse if I use that to read regular CDs.....and I wouldn't use it anyway because it's not a smart idea to use it on a regular basis to read CDs because that's not what it was made for, it was...

Is it possible to do this? Right now I have a DVD, CD-RW, and hard drive.........I want to slap in another hard drive and a CDROM drive as well........I've only had this system running for about a week and I already ate through 15GB of my 40GB hard drive and the DVD drive just can't measure up...

And to think.....I downloaded Powerstrip this morning....I was going to use it if the overclocking utility provided by Leadtek didn't please me......I definitely found the answer to that....... Do you think messing around with Powerstrip might help things?

This pisses me off, why would Leadtek hand out such a crappy overclocking utility that it screws the video card over even with just a mild overclock? I uninstalled the video card from Device Manager, rebooted, and colors are still distorted and applications I try launching on the desktop still...

I did a moderate overclock of my video card and all text became blurred, and colors were distorted, so I manage to barely interpret text and stuff and get to the overclocking utility for my Leadtek card. I put it back to default levels and reboot....the desktop now looked as normal as ever:)...

How to uninstall Win XP?

Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. If you didn't switch to NTFS and you upgraded from Win98SE, you should be able to remove WinXP and go back to Win98SE. If you switched to NTFS, you'll have to use the WinXP disc, select recovery, and format c within DOS.

WinXP refuses to acknowledge a driver I want installed:(

I grabbed the 22.5 Detonator drivers for my Geforce3 Ti200, it's beta but the "official" ones are a pain the buttocks. Video card not being able to complete drawing operations, random crash to desktop during games, all that bad stuff:( After I downloaded the 22.5s, I installed it to a folder...

Crashes to desktop in direct3d applications

I get that with my Geforce3 Ti200....but I also get errors because the video card wasn't able to complete a drawing operation:( Someone here suggested downloading different drivers......the 22.5s(from icrontic.com), but the instructions to install it are for win2k users, I'm trying to figure...

The notepad that comes with it was written for win2k.......when Windows XP doesn't find a suitable driver from a place you made it search, their is no option to "install one of the other drivers."

It doesn't let me hand pick it either, when I tell it I want to pick the driver, it shows me two drivers(not the one I just download).......I guess it refuses to acknowledge the drivers from the beta driver? How am I supposed to install it?

Windows doesn't like the files I decompressed, I made it search in the folder I had them in and it said it never found any driver upgrades. I guess I have to hand pick it? If I have to do that, I'm totally unsure of which file is to be used.

Where do you install it to? It doesn't automatically find where to install it to......I downloaded it to My Documents and that's where the install is pointing.....That can't be it. I don't want to guess on this one, that could lead to a catastrophe:Q

The drivers that came on the CD were fine and dandy until I started playing games, specifically Deus Ex. Every time I came to this one specific place, I'd get an error about the video card not being able to complete a drawing operation(it happens outside of this game, so it's probably not...

Could it be some setting in the BIOS that's causing problems?(I looked at every option, everything seems to be set accordingly, but I'm not sure) I put the modem in different PCI slots...but the same thing happens. I really need help in solving this problem!
