Thanks for the replies, I took it off the line conditioner but the same thing happened. And I have no idea how to tell whether or not the power is "funny", but it is true that my own PC and other stuff operates normally.

Still trying to troubleshoot this... What is a good benchmark program I could use to test the write speed of the drive? What about one that could give me cache and other information on it?

Mod an old keyboard? I could break it up and get the pieces I wanted, but the result wouldn't be pretty. If I could do that and package it in a nice little box or something that'd be nice, but I have no idea where I would get such an enclosure.

I need some kind of very basic control mechanism for an embedded system I'm working on. I just need a few (4-6) buttons. I would like it to be PS/2 so I don't have to modify the kernel in my system at all, but I could settle for USB.

Mine was only $30 at circuit city (w/ a rebate), they are only $80 to begin with anyway. I've bought too many sound cards in the last two years to buy the m-audio but I still want one :) I'm happy with the TBSC anyway :)

Asus A7M266 and AMD 2200XP

On the Asus website they state the 2100+ is supported using the 1007 BIOS. So if I bought the 2100+ am I going to have to play with the jumpers or did you have to do that just because the 2200+ isn't officially supported on the board?

Radeon 8500 and CS...

Running XP by any chance? If so it isn't your video card, it's Windows. Check the forums at rade3d.com for more information, there is a third party utility out there that fixes it. I've been using it for about a month now, it's pretty nice.

Either the logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo or microsoft would be fine. Though they aren't optimal for gamer types, they should suit your granddad just fine.

Overclocking Programs other than Power Strip

I'd use NVMax if I were you. But I really like Powerstrip because you can change clock frequencies in-game. It really comes in handy if you have your card up too high and you start getting glowing colored spots all over the place :)

I loaded XFree86 4.2.0 on my comp a few weeks ago, problem is tux racer is a slideshow =P I shouldn't complain though, I'm more than ecstatic that I can at least get my KDE desk back! Hellllloooo XEmacs :) :)

GeForce 4 reviewed!

What a silly review. First off, they used stone-age era drivers for the 8500 but the latest Detonator's for the GeForce 4. Secondly, why did they choose to only use Evolva, Aquamark, and Quake III? Couldn't they have used a few games that are a little more relevant?

Does O/C a Video card really make a difference in games?

Its worth it to me, if I can squeeze an extra 10 FPS out of my system with various OCing, then that is 10 more FPS that I have to sacrifice for some anti-aliasing or ansio filtering. Plus when the frame rates really start to drop when some newer games come out, I will be glad that I have those...

Radeon new WHQL 6014 drivers!

You can download these drivers in cab file format at ftp://162.84.138.136/, read the README to find out which file to download. You'll need to extract them, then manually update the drivers by pointing the add hardware wizard to the directory where the cab file was decompressed.

Where is ATI heading?

My 8500 looked and worked great right out of the box with the 3286's. And from the amount of feedback I've seen on Rage3D and elsewhere, people like Abem3 and I are norm for 8500 owners.
