Visiontek comes through!

Those whores, I tried to get a fan replacement and they told me it would void my warranty to remove the fan so I had to RMA the whole friggin card and i'm like yeah right

OK guys, *NOW* I'm happy!

I was just messing around and decided to move the 256mb stick from dimm socket #2 to #3 instantly I noticed I was able to begin getting aggressive with the memory timings, so I set this 2.5 stuff to cas2, 4bank, 3-6-3, 1T command rate and left my DDR voltage @ 2.7v, vcore @ 1.95v, fsb @ 148...

What am I doing wrong then? I have a 1800+@1710mhz(148fsb) and Geforce3 TI200 @ 235/510 In Quake3 1.17 in "normal" with 32 bit textures and color I only get ~200fps in demo001 with no AA and vsync turned off what's going on there?

should I unlock my XP1800?

My 1800+ goes to 1710mhz/148fsb 1.95v 100% stable.... AGKGA core, i'm happy I did unlock it at one time but the motherboard didn't really understand what I did so my multipliers wouldn't go above stock but they would go below

2nd 60mm fan

i thought about that but the base on my heatsink is SO tight against the processor and the thermister is trapped underneatht he chip wafer, i don't think that's possible....

Benchmarking with Quake3

ok, I pumped all the options to max and set the resolution to 1024x768x32, trilinear etc and i got 180fps in 7.5 seconds, isn't that kinda crappy? I get 8511 3dmarks...

I just installed it and installed the latest update from idsoftware, i set all the options to max and 1024x768x32, now how do i run a benchmark? I ran a demo but that doesn't report FPS it's a console string or something isn't it?

I have an OCZ Goliath heatsink that originally came with a SUPER LOUD 60mm delta fan which kept me 35/42.5c but now i've changed to a much quieter 6000rpm 60mm evercool fan it's nowhere near as cool with this fan and will sit @ 42/52c on the temps so I got an idea I removed the evercool fan...

oh well, i'll deal now i'm @ 1.95vcore, 148fsb, 1710mhz w/ AGKGA 1800+ on Shuttle AK35GT/R and i'm @ max load of 51c with cpu burn with the slower fan, that's acceptable i think, nice and stable

I just installed it with the evercool "quieter" fan described in the articles and my max load is 49c with antec silver paste, this is no better than my volcano6! what's going on?

More CPU cooling performance and not spending 70$

It looks like the Swiftech MCX372 is hands down the air cooling winner but i REALLY don't want to spend that much money for a high performance cpu cooler, currently i'm running a Thermaltake Volcano 6CU (not the + with the 7000rpm fan, tried that TOOOO loud), my temps are about 38c idle and 52c...

I know, but if I stick with larger modules I can run a gig in 2 slots, rather than attempting to populate more than 2 sockets and HOPING everything goes smoothly with unregistered non-ecc modules

Gimme your opinion on this memory decision....

I'm sick of running my two 256's in tandem using their crappy Mosel Vitelic chips that won't me achieve 2-5-2 memory settings even @ 133fsb, definately not the 144fsb I use, So i've went on a search for GOOD overclockable DDR and to make it even harder, I want it in a 512mb stick that delivers...

poll...kt266a users, which board did you buy and why?

It's all about the Shuttle, the AK31 r3.1 blessed me a few months ago with a 1600+ so I just moved to a 1800+ w/ an AK35GTR gettin it done quickly and stable.

Xtasy 6564 GeForce 3 ti/200 slow?!?!

I enabled fast writes and reflashed my card, ran a 3dmark, lost 50 points, reflashed back to the stock non-fast write enabled bios... it's a waste of effort, investigate other variables in your system first.... with a 1800+ @ 145fsb, visiontek gf3 ti200 @ 235/510 I get 8190 3dmarks w/ 27.43 dets

Installed mine yesterday, upgraded from AK31 r3.1 (which is for sale btw) :) I really like this board, pretty much an AK31 but it over-volts more and has onboard raid, i don't use the onboard sound so oh well

Good HSF combo?

I'm convinced on the Thermalright SK-6 that includes the ultra loud and annoying high pitched delta, how about I strap a 80mm Panaflo 46cfm/38dBa fan on top, prolly will cool better and not be as annoying either right?

I'm swapping out this AK31 r3.1 for a AK35GTR because i'm tired of the voltage regulator issue where it's always .5v below on vcore no matter how you set it and it goes back to stock if you try to step over 1.8v (+.100) but at the current momment i'm seeing temps of 40c idle and 50c max load for...

Help w/ unlocking processor

well i unlocked the 1800+ instead, best I can run it so far is 148x11 (1633mhz) w/ 2.7v to the ram and 1.8v to the core.... running CPU burn right now, let's hope it's stable, man I really wanted more mhz :(

It's an AGOGA 1600+, we did the conductive pen and glue trick and the multiplier changes and posts now but the speeds are all wacked, when i set 12 it's actually 10, what's going on?
