Question Is Anandtech dying? Why do they not have their own 4090 review on the front page?

Agreed, and it seems to becoming worse. Not to mention all the products they pimp.

Has Anandtech considered creating a YouTube channel?

I joined Anandtech almost 25 years ago, and found it a fantastic resource for tech stuff over the years. I didn't have a need to build a PC for a number of years, but I'm looking to build one now. I am a little disappointed in the lack of some content. I went to look for Best Video Cards for...

Need some help, low end system for father

I used to peruse Anandtech forums years ago for all the latest information. Haven't been back in years, but it looks like this is still the place to go for information. I built my father a Core 2 duo system years ago that was running XP. It finally died. I've not kept up with any of the...

Bleh, bought the wrong RAM speed DDR2-667 vs DDR2-800

Well, not wrong speed per se. Just thought I'd purchased the ddr2-800 and was confused why my BIOS was showing the slower RAM. Lol. Just wanted to make sure as I don't overclock I'm not going to miss anything speed-wise.

Bleh, bought the wrong RAM speed DDR2-667 vs DDR2-800

Just put this system together. Gigabyte P35-DSR3 Mobo, with Intel E8400 3.0 Gigahertz chip. By accident, bought 4 gigs of DDR2-667 RAM instead of DDR2-800 RAM. I know the DDR-667 is running at a 1:1 ratio with the clock speed on the mobo, but is it worth getting DDR2 800? I won't...

Now with pics! First pic shows the two bumps on the shelf. The first one to the left doesn't interfere because it's to the side of the shelf. The second one does interfere cause it's in the middle. http://img136.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pictwobw2.jpg This pic shows the second bump...

Exactly. And it can't press down on it. It's .8mm thick steal that's been deliberately formed to stick up. Have to mash it down or cut it out, I guess.

Assembling new computer, 1 problem, 1 question

Not sure how to post a pic. But in that link you sent, the top picture....you can see the "bump" from the side angle. If you find the PSU opening, at the bottom of that hole, you can see the "shelf" that runs back for several inches. On top of that shelf looks like a small piece of wire or...

Assembling new computer, 1 problem, 1 question

The power supply has a fan on one side, so I'm facing that down, wouldn't make any sense to have the fan blowing against the lid of the case. With that side of the PSU facing down, there aren't any other ways to put the PSU into the case. Basically, the PSU rests on a small shelf that's...

Just got my new components. Had purchased a Thermaltake Swing VB6000BNS Mid Tower Case and I bought a Corsair HX Series CMPSU-520HX 520W Power supply to go in the case. The power supply doesn't fit. There's a small steel shelf in the case that the power supply is resting on. There's a...

    DDR3 Memory Differences

So you are the type of person who enjoys spending lots of extra money for virtually 0 gain? I think we were just trying to help him understand what he has, and what's out there. He can certainly spend hundreds extra on DDR-3 RAM for almost no performance benefit. Might as well flush the...

    DDR3 Memory Differences

I was confused about this recently too. Your Front Side Bus *data* rate for your P5K3 motherboard is 1333Mhz. To find the actual *clock* speed, you divide that by 4. That leaves you with a clock rate of 333Mhz..Your FSB is *quad* pumped.... The data rate of DDR2-800 Ram is 800. To find...

    DDR3 Memory Differences

Unless your front side bus speed is 533 Mhz, which I highly doubt, which is what the PC3-1066 is rated to run at..... It's going to slow down to your front side bus speed, which is probably running at 233. So it doesn't really make much difference imo.

    Memory, FSB, DDR2 and speeds...

But even thought the *data* rate for both FSB and Memory lists as say 1333, that doesn't matter in the sense that you have to match the *clock* rate, which is 333. That was the piece that was confusing to me. You see *data* rate numbers all over. But the key is matching the *clock* rate.

    Memory, FSB, DDR2 and speeds...

My head is going to explode. I swear. Looking to buy the Gigabyte GA-P35 board. It lists the FSB as either, 1333 or 1066. OK, simple enough. The FSB is 1333 or 1066. But wait. I'm told that these FSB's are "Quad" pumped, and really only running at 333 or 266. Am I correct so far...

About to pull the trigger and build a new system...

Well, now I'm even a little more confused. If the FSB is 333, why do they keep coming out with faster RAM, if the RAM has to slow down to the FSB speed? Why don't I just go with DDR2 667, that runs at 333?

Windows 2000 profiles, the mystery of what goes wrong

I encounter problems on systems at the company I work for that often get fixed by "recreating" a user's profile. The desktop systems are all running Windows 2000. Some of our systems, even new systems that are only a few months old, seem to get sluggish when loading the desktop. The login...
