Always, ALWAYS! Buy the cheapest Tivo unit you can find and then hack in a huge hard drive. You'll have so much storage you'll be able to record everything under the sun.

You can also download the program data through a serial port. That way you don't have to buy a special NIC for your box. I know it sounds slow, but most daily calls are only a few k in size.
