Question When should I power off my computer?

Put it in hibernation mode, set it to turn off automatically after 2 hours when not using. It will go to low power stste.

How to copy OS from old HD to new HD?

I use a program called Copy Commander by V-Com, works without doing anything but booting off the CD and it will give you choices to copy to what hard drive. I bought mine at office max for 29.99 Here it is

Does such a hardware device exist?

10,000 RPM vs. RAID

I had raid O installed many times, and it was a little faster than my raptors, but not much. I would advise against raid O as when it goes it goes and your so out of luck. and it does go. Good luck

MSI K8N Diamond Plus...Dual 16x Sli and SB on-board

Great board, just got it. Had to update the bios right away. Very stable many features. I set up Raid 4-75gig raptors 0+1 I then crashed it on purpose to see if it would rebuid, it passed. Paired with 2 BFG 7900 GT OC cards & amd 4800x2 Great Board.

How To ... Giga-Sata-Raid1

I just went through that, what rev. board do you have. I have the 1.0 and had to udate to f13a bios. The connectors on ths board aren't too good for sata drives. I kept losing a drive in raid 0 and in Raid 1 I used the Intel sata for raid 0 and 1 You have to select raid in bios for each...

Gigabyte 8KNXP and RAM Problem

I have the same motherboard, don't update the Bios if you aren't having problems. I finally got the f13a bios to take , but it was a nightmare with the revision 1.0 board. Revision 2.0 took care of alot of the problems of 1.0 If your running good right now, leave it alone.

Question about hooking up SATA drives

Your probably not going to find the drivers for a beta setup. Try the 32 bit drivers and see if they install, or your going to have to email or call the maker of the PCI card and see if they have the 64bit drivers ready.

Just put together new computer, hard drive help

After that operation, Start the bootup with the windows CD in the drive. Hit F6 immediately to load the Sata drivers when prompted. You will have to hit the S key when it says so, then put a floppy with the drivers in and hit enter to load the drivers. if no more drivers are needed hit enter...

whatcha think?

If it's a 5400rpm you should upgrade to a 7200rpm drive. Drives come with 2,8, or 16 meg cache. The higher the better. Western digital also makes 10,000rpm drives 36gig or 72gig Going from a 5400rpm to 7200rpm with 8meg cache, you will see a big difference. Hard drives are pretty cheap now...

DVD exploded in my drive.

I have the NEC 3520A with the unlocked firmware and it rips very fast. I burn 4x TDK media in 6.5 minutes 8x Fuji in 6.4 minutes. I didn't try my 16 verbatim yet as tyhis burnner flies. I don't think I'll need to spend extra on 16x media as the standard 8x burns almost as fast. I wouldn't...

Need Advice On This Power Supply

I bought the Ethermax 460 Whisper for my wifes athlon 64 3.0 gig I use PC power and cooling exclusively. The Ethermax has impressed me so much that I may buy it for my next upgrade. DO NOT SKIMP ON THE POWER SUPPLY

Best camera for close up picture and moderate use

I have the Nikon cool pix 775 and it takes awesome macro shots, not bad for a cheap camera. Mine is 2 year old technology to boot. The newer Nikons are much better. I will buy a Canon though for my next camera.

ABIT AV8 Problems...

Overclocking A64 3000+

Antec Power supplies have known problems with A64 processors on some motherboards. I would get at least a 450w of a different brand name. Like Enermax, PC Power or the newer Antecs.

Bad BIOS flash?

I have had that happen to me man times, sometimes the boot order gets changed after flash, go in and check your boot order as Sata or IDE first. Unplug any network cable and carefully reset all devices in the biosand try rebooting then.

15K RPM SCSI or Dual 10K RPM Raptors in RAID0?

I ran my 74 gig Raptors in Raid 0 on different stripes and did not notice any benefit in Gaming, in fact the Games ran better without Raid. I set mine up to run ads a single drive and my Gaming is fast now. There will be somewhat of a lag on certain games with Raid 0, not to mention hosing it...

What Cables Do I Need For Build

WD makes a better cable to lock into the Raptor, highly recomended. I fried 2 raptors using the cheap sata connectors because my hard drives sat right in front of my case door closing and hit the sata cables breaking the tab off the cheaply built sata connectors.Look Here for connector

Will SATA always be so complicated to install?

If Microsoft was a caring company they would offer a slipstreamed version to us at a very reasonble price. Complete with Service pack 2 and Sata drivers. This would be contingent, as your registered version is registered. They don't have too, that's why they make Billions.
