i recommend the retail for anyone not overclocking... you dont have to worry about the heatsink or anything else... engineers have done all that for you
your problem is your generic memory... you should get some pc133 memory or unlock your processor with a pencil (connect the L1 bridges on the top of the processor with graphite #2)
i got my 1700+ to 1644.. 12x137... i unlocked it with the deffoger kit and it was friggin hard... i was very suprised that it worked... took me at least 2.5 hours and a whole lotta care
man im tired of all these people talking smack about the agp slot not working "design flaw carried over... i like to see myself type", people need to compare their own skill with the skill of the engineers that designed the motherboard... 99 out of 100 it is user error
i got the regular old crazy glue.... i unlocked my xp last night... it was such an ordeal, but it worked and im happy, i got the xp1700+ running at 1669 right now (12x139) 1.85v and it appears to be stable
when i installed xp on a kt7a-raid machine i had problems trying to use my own drivers... it worked fine without specifying additional blah blah blah... that was the hpt370 chip though, not the 372, i dont know about that one until tomorrow when i get mine in :)
to figure out what speed your memory is you can simply see how fast it overclocks...
2/5x10-9 = 400MHz DDR Hz is simply 1/seconds
i overclocked my inno3d ti200 to 520 MHz without any problems
that translates to about 3.8ns memory... definitely not five
i would think not on the 400.. the p2's cache makes an enormous difference on everything, you might be getting close at 466, are all these on a laptop or are the cels on a desktop?
the athlon xp 1900+ at 1.6GHz beats the 2GHz p4 at almost every benchmark for 170 dollars less.... dont look at the operating frequency... look at the benchmarks... anand does a good job with all that
ive already bought my superglue :) took me about 20 minutes at walmart to pick out what i thought would do the best
my xp is on the way i need to find me a repair kit and ill be set
your numbers sound like you have a good connection with your processor, a good heatsink, and a #$#@ty fan
i wouldnt expect you would get any lower with that processor and that fan
the pal8045 does come with a blister pack of silcon compound... but arctic silver is better if you want to spend the 10 bucks... i am for my 8045
i would recommend something inbetween the 30cfm and 68cfm previously referenced, sunon makes a nice 50cfm fan that can be had for 8 bucks from...
i have about 50 fans in my room from 40mm to 250mm and the panaflo are the quietest in respect to their output of any fans ive seen... if you arent overclocking get something quiet... i would also recommend a sunon with a dB below 40... 2cooltek.com has 3... i wouldnt get the whisper, but dont...
id recommend the abit kr7a-raid... has everything except the usb2.0... i (and many others) should be getting it at the end of the week to give you some feedback
i just ordered mine today from allstar/smk as listed on pricewatch... price was 168 + shipping... they said it would be shipped directly from the vendor and that would probably be tomorrow (tuesday)... i figured ordering from these people i can take some time off of delivery by skipping the...
the problem with most heatsinks that size is that they are short.... i recently purchased a coolermaster 60x80x40tall heatsink for about nine bucks... i took the band saw and dremel to it and mated it with my geforce 3 ti-200
an important thing to note is that i could not overclock it anymore...
you are running the chip at 100mhz fsb... the multiplier is 11.5 for the 1800+ thus giving you 1150MHz... you need to change the bus to 133MHz so 11.5x133 = 1.53GHz..
it is normal for devices to share irqs... if there isnt a problem like sound cutting out or losing your network connection dont worry about it... about the agp... that is just how the motherboard/chipset handles irqs... each card has an irq steering associated with it
the shuttle isnt anything special.... its just cheap, if you dont know what raid is dont bother with the asus board... i recommend the epox, the shuttle, or the pcchips 830lr with sis 735 chipset if you really want to save money... i dont think the pcchips board supports xps though... so you...
the athlonxp 1700+ outperforms a P41.7GHz by a substantial margin.... you can read anand's review on the front page that compares the last 5 or so xps with the last 5 or so P4s. the 1700 rating is simply a number that allows a simpler comparison between AMD and intel cores..
you ask if it will...
I used to have a Slot A raid configuration and recently got rid of it. I will be purchasing a KR7a-Raid shortly. I highly recommend the ABIT board for several reasons. 1. Integration is always better if the integrated part is the same as an addon (except the nforce graphics).... it is going...
