VGA cooler for 6600gt?

Recommedations on sub $1000 laptop

I would buy an X1000 series laptop. HP has a $100 mail in rebate available, and with the coupon code you can get another 10% off. I got this blurb from www.dealnews.com (I would recommend only getting 256MB of ram, and buy another stick for about $45 from Newegg, instead of paying $100xtra...

Digital Camera Suggestions

Canon makes an excellent camera. There's at least 3 or 4 different models that will fit the bill. I bought an s110 last year and it's amazing how small it is for a 2mp camera.

Apple iPod or MiniDisc Walkman??

You know a third option, one that is much more useful for other things besides mp3's, would be a Pocket PC. Dell has one for $199 that has a CF slot, and headphone jack. Add a 256mb CF card for about $80 and you can probably store 3 or 4 hours of music... I mean really how much storage do you...

how to do I copy a theme into my pocket PC?? help? I have the e310..

It's kind of ridiculous... even though installing a theme is extremely easy, I found it very hard to find any information on how they were installed. I guess most sites just assume you're supposed to know.

I'm not sure what kind of keyboard you're refering to, but www.pocketop.net makes a keyboard for it that uses the IR port. I would really like to try the flexis keyboard, but they won't have one out until early next year.

I bought mine from compuplus about a week and a half ago for $379, and I love it. I would have bought the e330 but it's only about $50 cheaper, even though the msrp is about $200 cheaper.

Just how important is USB 2.0??

there's no question that usb 2.0 is much better than 1.1... BUT you don't have to have it on the board you buy. When you need it, then buy a usb 2.0 expansion card for $20. I have usb 2.0.... and not one single device that's utilizing it.

why not go with PC2700... prefereablly Samsung if all you're going to try and reach is 166mhz? I would imagine a 1600+ would be the best bang for the buck (what $53-$55?). I mean I wouldn't waste my money on cheap ram but I also wouldn't waste it on memory that scales higher than you need. If...

Is oxfordpc overpriced?

Newegg is terrific, and from what I've heard ABS computers is run just as well. Same products. From dealing with Newegg I'd say they're a great company that has fair prices and good customer service.

do a reinstall of win2k...but at the second screen after choosing install windows you should pick the "reinstall" option and then point to the active partition that windows is already installeed on. Doing this procedure is the best way to not disrupt the programs and files saved on your disk...

P4 Temp Question

40c to 47c is completely normal.. full load can go all the way up to 60c... and that's well whithin the limits of the chip. (I think up to 80c is tolerated). My system usually idles at about 38c in a cool room and about 43c in a warm room. I have a P4 1.6A @ 2.4Ghz w/ 150FSB 1.6V ASUS P4B533

What's a good idle temperature?

my 1.6A @ 2.4Ghz is about 32-36c depending on room temp. It heats up to mid 40c (highest I ever saw it was 53c) when running Prime95. I removed the thermal tape from the retail heatsink fan and used standard heatsink compound... I personally think Arctic silver is a bit overrated but spending...

duron 133 fsb is it possable

I had the same luck with a 1Ghz chip... never changed the jumper from 133FSB and the system posted fine at 1.33. CPU temps are in the low 40c range. The system is completely stable, it was an Asus nforce board (220 micro atx)

AMD Heatsink Question

to find out your current CPU temps you should go into your BIOS... there should be a sub menu labeled "Hardware Monitoring" or something to that effect. Gigabyte should also have a utility that you can monitor temps right from windows. I personally wouldn't even consider using a Cooler Master...

Win XP Pro vs Win 2K

in my opinion winxp is to win2k what winMe is to win98. It's just the same OS with better asthetics and a few more features. They're both reliable, but I prefer winxp. win2k is supposed to be a little more suitable to people who are hands on and dig into the OS. 90% of the drivers that work...
