    Well i have to disagree about ntfs i used both fat and ntfs. both were problem free for me and very stable with XP. The big question is if you want to ever boot into dos and edit files. Cause if you go with ntfs you can not.

    Well I have to agree that driver updates would help alot also do all the M$ updates also they do help i get scores of 7258 or hightr with my system and you should get around 7000 atleast. try updates and see. Post the results after updating

    XP will not evern startup for you. You will get system protection errors. and will have to format anyways . so back up. I have tried this a few different times at work now and have not beed sucessful yet.

    I think your dad installed somthiong XP did not like. XP acts very funny(not funny haha the other funny) when drivers are installed it does not like. I know if you install 2k drivers for an epson c 60 the very same thing happens. Before you flip out to much reinstall XP and see what that does.

    gf3 for gaming. heck its good for everything else to though the 8500 does seem better for video playback. 1 diff i do see is in canadian prices the gf3 is $325 and the 8500 is around $525. i think thats another + for the gf3

    40x what? so they raise the number? ok if a 16x burner burns a cd in say 5min or so a 32 should burn in what 2.5min that means a 40x burns in less then 2 min. 40x is pretty hard to see when they can\t even make a cd rom read at 52x constant
