Bicycle tires - Shelf life???

I'd bag them if they're in a basement with a furnace due to the ozone. Aside that and direct sunshine they should last 10+ years easily. I keep mine in a couple contractor trash bags.

Gigabyte 780GHZ - question about temperatures.

The card should hit 80C and start throttling I believe, so it should be as-designed if that is what you are seeing. The only way I've found to prevent it from hitting 80C is to put a case fan in the door, pointing at the card. I max out around 75C with that configuration. Even leaving the case...

Reasonable temps for an i7 920?

Seems high compared to mine as well. With the overclock I idle at 30C and max out at 55C (The individual cores report 40C and 70C respectfully)

Best thing ever? Quite possibly.

Surface for working on car in dirt

Are hard tops just better?

The NC miata's folding hard top is fairly ingenious and a lot of owners like it. It does look a bit more 'Suzuki X90' than the removable hard top though. D:

I have an older version of one of these. I have it mounted to a swing arm from an old lamp sitting next to my main monitor. Some people mount small LCD's in cars (carputers?).. you may want to look at some forums catering to that niche as well.

Elegant Case Under $100?

I like the Antec 300.. it's small and easy on the eyes. Some may call it more bare bones than elegant though. If you have LED fans, etc., you can just snip the diodes off. I've done that before. I also have a roll of red lithographers tape that is good for toning down bright lights on...

Best Gamepad controller?

I rarely use a controller, but sometimes it's just better. I've found the Xbox controller to be the best. The main reason is that most multi-platform games automatically recognize and configure for it. On the older Logitech that I had I was always mapping the functions prior to playing the game.

For AutoCAD: Quadro 2000 vs FX 1800

Then I wouldn't worry about it, any card will work as AutoCad renders legacy 2d in the CPU (if you use the 2d visual style you can get anti-aliasing on 2d line and that's about it).

For AutoCAD: Quadro 2000 vs FX 1800

2d or 3d? We did a small test last week and found very little difference between a G92 8800GTS and a Quadro 4000 in 3d, for what it's worth. We may have been CPU bound though. The 8800GTS is one of the last Nvidia cards that didn't have crippled AutoCad drivers.

Something similar happened in a miata.net post recently.. He left the car sit a bit through the winter and the engine would barely crank. Turns out a bit of moisture was in the engine and rust formed on the cylinder wall. The dealership soaked the cylinder walls with penetrating oil for 2 days...

How to measure V-belts

The memory in the cards is different.. 5GHz for the 6950 and 6GHz for the 6970. From what I've read this is the biggest limitation on whether the BIOS mod is stable. Also a few reports of high idle temps on the unlocked cards.. For what it's worth.
