New Egg's got it for 183. Reading the reviews their of all the Ti4800's, there appeared to be some problems with the 3.6ns flavor but this one, the 3.3 vs should be good to go
A little extra info on the card I'm considering purchasing:
Gainward Ultra/750-8X XP, Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti 4800 SE, 8X AGP, Golden Sample retail package , Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti 4800 SE, 3.3ns 128mb DDR AGP 8X, Overclocking enhanced performance mode.
I'm considering getting this as a balance between cost, performance and the need to upgrade from my G3. I'm interested to hear any and all opinions on this card.
Do not install the OS on another machine. Get all your valuable info off of tghe hard rive in question. F-disk the mofo and let Win XP take care of everything else. This is a time proven method for me when absolutely nothing will work
welcome to what happens when you try swapping somwthing over with our doing at least a clean install of the OS. I go a bit farther and format the HD. Even if you do get this to work with doing the aforementioned steps, I promise nothing will ever work right until you finally breakdown and do...
Ok, its like this: Divorce can be good if there are irreconsiliable diffferences, but it isn't good if you're only doing it to avoid problems. Such as getting married @ 18 b/c you think you know everything, then finding out that you don't and trying to divorce your way out of it later. But to...
They do that sh!t alla time, I'm sure you've all even seen movies scenes in the commercials that aren't even in the actual movie! that's bunk, 'cause those are usually the good ones too...
Like notfred said that was apett yjacked up aside from you there bub. Add to that your casual yet arrogant assumption that earning a degree eanrs you good money! Hah, tell that to all the "degrees" working for me! I'm younger and didn't even finish college and work in the Tech industry where...
What OS? And have you updated the video and 4in1 drivers? Some say not to do so with Win XP, but I'm using that and have no problems with all updated drivers and even games such as UT2003. Might be worth a shot if you haven't...

copy command.com from you win98 start up diskette to your c drive (C:\). If that dn't work, my guess is yup, you'll be reinstalling. You really should get a better OS though...

Just a suggestion, I'd use the 120 as a back up and the 40 as the primary. If you can get another 120 G and put it on raid use that as back up/data storage, you'd never really ever need to burn a cd as back up or even worry about loosing yer stuff. 40 G's is plenty for your OS, games and App's...
You don't get RAID for performance, you get it for redundancy so you don't lose valiable data. As far as the ?UI goes it depends on the board. Some have BIOS like interfaces that you get into before the OS loads and others you can use while running the OS...
Audio Galaxy and look for Rapshody, pretty sweet. Its not actually radio but lets you pick whole albums and save them. Great connection too, its never choked not even once. Too bad audiogalaxy went under, that was my fav mp3 util...
Just out of curisoity which are you so intent on keeping your DVD as master? Its not going to make a difference which drive's the master or slave, the devices will operate at the slowest speed on the cable (that's just how IDE works).
Other than that, AnMig got it for you...
Correct me if I'm wrong but you'd be wasting bandwidth getting 333 RAM on a CPU that only operates @ 266. Save yourself the money or use it to buy memory and go with the cheaper pc2100...
