This is a great old thread. I was never the most active DC member here on AT but I remember quite a few of these names. I don't have any rigs running these days. My focus was primarily on S@H and SB. I do remember the races and the sandbaggers. Good times!

E6300 + DS3 overclocking help. 430x7 stable, 443x7 complete lockup in windows

Isn't it widely accepted that the Conroe is currently the fastest processor on the market? All the magazines I've been reading have said that, and they weren't plugging Intel the last year or two either when AMD reigned. (PC Magazine, Computer Shopper, etc.)

Retirement....

I too don't run nearly as many machines at home as I once did. I couldn't justify the $$$ each month on the electric bill that went to DC. In addition, I have become more of a lurker on the boards. I've never been a major forum contributor but it is nice to stop in and read the threads and...

What is the version/model number on the Linksys router? I've seen a lot of problems with their routers recently and it your scenario of rebooting the unit to fix the problem is all too common.

Dyson vacuums worth the money?

I can attest to the value of the Dyson. I used to be a member of the "$100 vacuum is the way too go" crowd. However, we have three Australian shepherds who seem to shed on different cycles. We burned through 4 cheap vacuums in about a year before I finally took a friend's advice and...

Networking question....

YEP, that was the ARP cache on the router. It maintains a local lookup table so it knew the local address of the domain. When you changed the domain to a different provider, the router retained the local address. So, whenever you tried to browse the page or ping it, it was trying to use a...

Networking question....

It's likely the router has something resident in it's ARP cache. Leaving it disconnected for a while should clear that out. If that fails, you could always do a factory reset on the ah heck :)

Networking question....

It sure looks like you've got DNS caching somewhere internally on your home network. Does the ProSafe have any caching capabilities? Since your IPCONFIG shows it is acting as your DNS server, I would start there.

Ok networking gurus....

You're going to want to change the IP address of the wireless router to something on the 192.168.0.x range and then disable DHCP on the wireless router. When your wireless clients connect to the router, they will receive a DHCP offer from the Netgear VPN Firewall.

**DEAD** Scorching Hot: 2 (two) 160GB Maxtors for $90 OTD

Mine were delivered today. They were shipped from the Chambersburg, PA warehouse which isn't very far from where I live. Looks to be the people who live close to the distribution points did OK I ordered at 2:35 on 2/20 and the drives were delivered at 4:35 on 2/22.

Crossover will not be OK even if your switch is autosensing. Crossover is used to go from device to device without a switch or hub. i.e. computer to computer, computer to printer. You can also use a crossover to chain older hubs and switches (without an uplink port) together Of course...
