So, i figured it out.... i think. So basically, it's like this: the spin quantum number s, is assigned as 0, 1/2, 1, 3/2, 2, .... the magnitude of spin, S, is given by (hbar)(s(s+1))^(1/2) the z-component of spin is given by (mz)(hbar), where mz can be given by (s, s-1, s-2, ..., -s)...

oh, nevermind, i think i get it. it's because you quantize both the spin angular momentum, and the z-component of angular momentum with integer values.

how to format a CF card in a camera

I just sold an old canon digital camera, and i'm throwing in a 512mb CF card. but, the card has got some pictures on it, and I have no card reader. I connected the camera, but I can't get windows XP to treat it as a drive so i can format it or securely remove the pictures by some other means...

When would you buy an electric car?

100mi is fine for the daily commute which can't possibly be more than 100miles. then just charge over night. it's a good deal, i'd buy it. not practical for travel though. but there's always trains/plains/rental cars for that.

I have been putting those annoying magazine cards behind my bed for awhile now

if the outlet is old and the connection with the plug is loose, and it comes partly out of the socket, it can cause an arc. this is an extremely common cause of fires.
