Help me fix problems logged in setupapi.log

I clicked the runme batch file, but I don't think anything happened. On reboot it said "cmos checksum error, press f1 for defaults", or somethng like that. I pressed f1, and the bios date got set back to 06/10/2003. What am I doing wrong?

Yes, maybe I need to remove the old monitor drivers, how do I do that? I've tried to "deactivate" and "uninstall" the (compaq) monitor then reboot, unsuccessfully

I've borrowed a 17" Compaq monitor (model: 7550), and I can't get past 1024x758, the only options are 640x480, 800... and so on. It's a brand new monitor so it should be able to handle 1152x864 @ 85 Hz (that's the res I want). Even my five year-old Leoptics monitor can do that. I think I can...
