Well, I figured a BIOS update would be the easiest thing to try and I always like having the latest versions of things anyway :)
I saw this in my system log, thought it sounded like a BIOS problem
AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to read from an illegal IO port address (0xcfc), which lies in the...
A few years ago there was a hot deal that a lot of anandtechers took advantage of. It was a barebones system from Andara Technologies from Overstock.com for about $65 that supported up to a 1GHz AMD processor. I think the systems were formerly from Micron. I got one of them and it has been...
Are you willing to pay for blog hosting? If so, you can look at many of the packages out there. I host several bloggers (people who have blogs ;)) that use either b2 (cafelog.com) or Movable Type (www.movabletype.org/).
I got an old 88 Honda Civic that was pretty damaged. The front hood was crumpled after he ran into the back of a Lincoln.
I am in the process of fixing it. So far I have pulled the front end back out closer to how it was originally. I fabricated a new mount/latch mechanism for the new hood I...
I picked up a Marantz SR-5000 for $250 refurbished from an internet vendor a year ago. It is an excellent receiver and has served well.
It has an optical audio input and supports Dolby digital/DTS, it also has lots of S-VIDEO ports and can do video switching. I think I found the place that...
Man I wish they could tell me where they get their UNLIMITED megabyte hard drives.
UNLIMITED storage == "We don't tell you how much storage we'll give you"

Definately a good deal. I got one last year when this was a hot deal at $50. Good product if you can fit it under your table/desk. Takes up too much room on the surface.
I've been interested in getting a Dodge truck, just a 1/2 ton. But, seems like Dodges get the worst milage. Any of you guys want to post your gas milage? I assume the 4x4's are worse than 4x2's. I only have about 3000lbs to haul so a 1/4 ton 4x4 should be enough for me.
Thanks for the tips yllus
Right now I am setup with two servers. I have one running Ensim 3.1 control panel, and the other is more of a barebones Apache 1.3.26 with php. I anticipate that most of my customers will want the user-friendly control panel, but I can customize and tweak Apache on...
Yes, I've been to webhostingtalk.com.. I think $10/year is too low for any type of web hosting service. My rates would have to be higher than Cyberwings, but my customers should expect a higher level of service and stability...
any more interest?
I am starting a small web hosting company. I already have 2 servers setup that I am leasing in a colocation facility. I would like some feedback specifically from AnandTech users about what they would pay for in terms of web hosting.
I already plan to offer very good tech support via email -...
These days, the saying 'you get what you pay for' definately rings true with webhosting. I suppose it is possible that the Cyberwings staff are working their butts off to host everyone for practically nothing, out of charity and the goodness of their hearts. But that seems kind of odd to me...
Gary- thanks for replying. I was wrong for venturing to guess how your web hosting is setup. I hadn't taken the time to look at your website, but now I have - still a bit scarce on information, but I understand you are just starting.
OK, I don't post on here very often but I felt that I should post on this thread.
I understand that some of you people may not be serious about running websites, and if you're not, then go ahead and sign up for the $3.95 hosting sites. It sounds to me like these type of sites are just run by...
