Good DVD player?

I like the JVC XV-S300BK / XV-S302SL cuz it plays EVERYTHING(DVD, DVD-R/RW, SVCD, VCD, MP3, etc) and comes in black or silver. Plus!, it's only like $100 at Best Buy. Bought my parents one and if I didn't already have my 3 year old Pioneer, I would have one myself. BDOG

Make an internal DVD-R/RW drive external?

I have my Pioneer DVR-A04 DVD-RW in an external FW/USB2 case from Cooldrives. It has the Oxford 911 chipset and it works REALLY well. I just have the Koutech TI based firewire card from Newegg $25. I also have a second case with an 80GB Cuda IV in it. Used them both daisy chained for about 3...

How can trying to use "Headphones" be such a pain in the A**??

Go spend $4 on a headphone splitter and plug it into your sound card's Front out. Plug your Headphones in one side and the front speaker cable input into the other side. Problem solved. Cheap too. BDOG

Dual Monitors...

IT'S POSSIBLE! I HAVE DONE IT! You need 2 seperate Video Cards. Have a sweet AGP card for your Primary/Gaming Monitor and get a PCI RADEON 7000 or 7500 and run your second Tube on that. They are independant. Granted, I have only done this in Win2k, HAVEN'T tried it in anything else. You...

OK, nevermind. What kind of laptop is it? The rectangular "pin" is actually a physical keying device so you don't put it in the wrong way. I am not sure if I have ever heard of an S-Vid connector having 2 rectangular "pins" . The standard has a rectagular one and then 3 notches for keying...

Does the S-Video TV-Out port have 4pins or does it have 7 or 8? If it has more than 4pins then it has a composite signal on those additional pins and you need to get an adapter like this to get the composite (via RCA) output. BDOG

tiny jacobs ladder / tesla coil

Try a Fluoro ballast or a flyback xformer from a TV/CRT. make to electrodes of your desired length. Then play with the spacing until an arc can jump the gap. You are going to want to put a cover over it when you get the spacing correct. I dunno about putting anywhere near your computer...

Burned VCD/SVCD compatibility on standalone DVD players?

I have a Pioneer DV525 (not made anymore) and a JVC XV-S300BK (BestBuy $120), both which I play VCDs and SVCDs burnt to CDR with VCDEASY encoded with TMPGenc. I do like the JVC's interface and functionality better, but then again it is newer than my poineer. I have had no problem with SVCDs up...

Brake piston totally stubborn, please help

I use a big-'ol-C-Clamp.... A 6" one to be exact. Leave the pad that is on the piston and use that as a surface to clamp to. I have done this method on Fords and Dodges. Good Luck BDOG

KUMnGO sux man. there are other names for it like KumnLeave and JerknSquirt.... It is definitely one of my least fav C-Stores in IOWA Although I have never seen a C-Store with a decent name... like Kwik-Star or Kwik-Trip or Quick-Trip. Why they name C-Stores so terribly is beyond me... BDOG
