I'd recommend at least the wireless upgrade for $25 and the Brightview upgrade. If you don't buy the built in wireless it's hard to add later as the BIOS locks out most Mini PCI cards and the antennas aren't installed. See www.dv1000forums.com for more info on these laptops.

I had the same problem with the computer beeping and shutting off as you have. It is caused by the FOC (Fan off Control) function of the motherboard. It is explained on the bottom of page 9 iand page 10 in the manual. I had to go into the BIOS and disable the FOC to get the board to work...
Does anyone have a problem with the frame shutting itself off after about 10 minutes? I turned off all the auto features but seems like a power problem in that I have to reset the time everytime it is turned on. Only one of the two frames I bought does this. Also, the pictures look alot better...
