Random computer failures, I think its a crappy Live! value card

Hello, I have been have a seemingly random memory dump errors on my computer recently. I think its either a bad ram stick, or a bad sound card. I think it could be bad ram cause the error every once and a while is "cannot write to memory". It could be the sound cause the sound card dies...

Been looking a free prog to tell me the stepping. I have a 600E and the cpuid prog from Intel tells me that stepping is 3. I have no idea what this means. Any help is appreciated Caesar Caligula

Converting SECC to SECC2

I have a SECC p2 that i want to take the hsf off of and put it on a SECC2. the pins seem to be in the same arrangement but fastened in different ways. The heat sink fan is pop-rivited to the proc. I could probably get the HSF off (carefully drilling out the rivits) but then I would have no way...

Is it possible to do this? And on the HSF, is the mosting pins the same on SECC and SECC2? they seem to be just glancing at them.

Need a few suggestions

I am going to college in about 3 months and am building a new pc for it. I am planning on putting 2 of the WD HDDs with the 8mg buffer in Raid 0. But I have no idea which raid card to use? Are there any IDE hardware based cards (like the SCSI ones that have ram slots on them)? Thanks...

Strange installation problem

2 hard drives, 2 cd-roms, and 1 question

This is probably wrong but... If the 2 hds are ATA100 and your mobo has ATA100 built in, I would put the 2 Hds on the same IDE interface and then your CDRW on the master on the second. When you burn from a cd to cd, just make sure its not on the fly. If your mobo doesnt support ATA 100, then...

for 2 drives(in raid), its only thing that he can do thatll give him more space. IF he wants to do to buy 2 more drive he can do raid 5

I would suggest getting a promise raid card, and get the another of the same HD you already have and do Raid 0 for 80 gigs. it only costs a little more then just the normal ata card.
