P4 1.6A and 1.8A overclocking: Post your results

1.6A@2.13 Mhz My Abit IT7 Max will not boot at anything above 133 Mhz FSB. I've heard that there are jumpers on my motherboard that will allow higher voltage, but I have not been able to identify them.

Looking for a new printer

I own the Epson C60 and usually have to buy new ink cartridges every 2-3 weeks. My family does print a lot (500-700 in that time frame), but even so, I think the interval between changing cartridges is too small. The only reason I bought this printer over and HP was because I was not aware...

What are the uses of a computer?

My school uses it to check to see which students enter school everyday. Accounting purposes also come to mind. I use my computer mainly for its internet connection. It has taken the place of tv in addition to the uses you mentioned.

XP2000+ =1.67GHz, XP2100+ =what? etc.

The inquirer's article gives some info about the T-bred. Do not listen to their statement about the higher cache. A more recent article, which they released cleared that up...can't find it though. I think they said that the later T-bred models will have more on-die cache, while the first bach...

Which company for a geforce?

wait for the Gainward Geforce 4 ti 4200. They should be priced similar to the Geforce 3 ti 200, but perform better than the ti 500, and also have extra features.

K7S5A lockup problems. I'm stumped. *Problem fixed*

hmm...could it be an overheating problem? I actually have the K7S5A with lock-up problems during seti, but they only occur every few months. Perhaps you should try a larger ps, even if the processor is only a 1GHz T-bird.

VIA KT266 or AMD 761?

kt266a chipset is currently the fastest socket A chipset. The Nforce comes in a close second.

System repeativly crashes with WindowsXP and Gainward GF2

I do not know if there is any precedence for this, but could the card have come overclocked (I mean higher than 220/450), and caused the problems you stated above? Have you tried lowering the core and memory clock?

p4 or AMD xp for a non comp guy

My K7S5A took care of my 1500+ Athlon XP nicely after a bios update. I believe version 010920 and later support the XP processors. Do you have a 300W power supply?

When do you surmise ATA drive capacity will reach 1TB? Is there a law, similar to Moore's law, for drive capacity (aureal density?)?

Quick Dually Questions

I belive processors in a dual configuration must be the same; they must have the same stepping, and clock speed. I am uncertain though. Could you possible search for past posts? There should be a few like this.

Is that KT333 going to be worth it? Tryin to decide on upgrade here..

I suggest you wait for motherboards which contain the KT333A chipset. It will contain other features besides supporting 333Mhz DDR ram. I also expect it to have less bugs than the KT333. I think the release date was pushed to Feb 17 for the KT333, but I am unsure. I will try to find an article.

AMD CPU reading not true speed?

Most definitely your bios. Which board is this? Try upgrading your bios, and then check to see if Sandra reports the same clock frequency. Note: You mean the AthlonXP is PR 1700+ right? 1700Mhz AthlonXP processors have not been released yet.

A Pro Rig?

I think this thread is more approriate for general hardware.... I was under the impression that to produce a very realistic game, one would require networked computers and professional graphics cards. Unless you mean in terms of physics, which I am unsure about. Wait for more posts.

OK, let's hear the arguments...single or dual processor?

I believe it depends on the apps you will run. I do not know very much about the increase in performance of specific apps besides premiere and photo shop. And for those I only know that they will get an>20% boost in performance.

Temps of XPs

Many overclockers have had good experiences with the SK6 and a sunon fan (I'm trying to find the link) , and the alpha 8045. I have a V5, which I do not think is powerful enough to do a decent overclock. It's also the family pc, so I can't risk damaging it.

I thought it was a bit cold. My temp has always been reported as being around this temperature in Sandra. I once posted a question in another forum about which temp reading I should trust, the bios or sandra, and I received the response that I could pay attention to either one of them...
