Can't get Athlon XP 1700 to work at 1700

i might know what the problem is. my xp1800 wouldnt run either. turned out i had the divider set to 3:3:1 instead of 4:4:1 because 3:3:1 was the default setting. i also have the kg7 raid, so you might be experiencing the same thing. good luck

How reliable is Crucial RAM when OCing?

<< Most people here are gonna tell you Crucial is da bomb and is good to at least 150 MHz. -- I went through this a week ago. Some guys claim 170. My stick of 256 PC2100 pukes @ 144 even with 2.8v. And forget aggressive timings -- it won't do 100MHz with Turbo or Ultra timings in my Abit KG7...

139Mhz FSB = 35Mhz PCI ?

i have an abit kg7 raid and an xp1800. my divider setting is 4:4:1, i also have a 3:3:1 option. is there a time when i need/would want to change it? what would it do to the system? positives negatives of both options?

Same cpu and heatsink on two mb=different temp

maybe just in the case of the abit board you put the thermal compound a bit differently, and it doesnt have as good contact.

BSOD after oc

I've recently oc'd my xp1800 to 1600 mhz (139 fsb), my memory settings are at ultra and cas 2. i ran 3dmark2k1 and sisoft sandra tests with no prob. so i thought everything was ok. i then decided to play some games to test it further. during Medal of Honor mp, after 30-120 min of play it will...

Help.....Problems installing a new motherboard

the fact that it doesnt auto detect the old cd rom might not be a problem, in my old comp the bios auto detect feature didnt find the cd rom either, and it still worked fine.

i think some people got confused, when i said xp packaging was going to be green, i didnt mean the BOX, lol. packaging is also the name of what surrounds the cpu core, the now brown, previoulsy grey square piece of ceramic/organic tile. :)

of course not, you can go MUCH higher and do nothing to it. for example, my ti200 with default 175 core and 400 memory is @ 220/475 with stock heat sinks and basic air cooled case. if i had better cooling and maybe agp voltage setting option in my bios i could go a tad higher. so dont be...

Maxtor drive wont OverClock

i sure want to hear the answer to that, im planning to oc my xp1800 and i have a maxtor dimond plus 60. but it might be an isolated incident, my friend has a maxtor with an 1800 @ 1.8 Ghz.

all my PCI devices seem to be on IRQ 11. ive been told thats normal. i've never had any problems with any of these cards. ill try those tests.

Oc Videocards

vid cards will get by w/o any extreme cooling. if you oc high you can put a case fan in the side of your case to blow right at it, or just a case fan inside your case (i sometimes put on on the back of the soudn card :) ), if youre realy pushing it u can install better heatsinks on the gpu and ram.

Overclocking ain't as much fun as it used to be...

not everything is about money and cost. its about the fun factor involved in oc'ing and about customizing, making your pc unique and very own, not some generic clone.

the only sugestion i can make is that its a knows fact that a lot of ram, ie. 4 full slots, create instability. sorry thats all i can tell you. good luck.

no, still organic. i doubt theyll ever go back to ceramic. there was a reason for this switch, which intel made a LONG time ago. when the cpu is working obviously only the core does. hence theres temp variation between the core and the surrounding package. with organic theres less variation...
