How much should I pay for this CPU?

A friend of mine is selling a Pentium 4 631 retail boxed cpu. It runs prime stable at 4.9ghz @ 1.4v. see the screeny here. He's asking for $200, should I get it or should I get a brand new one, and take a chance?

Dell PowerEdge 400SC P4 2.8HT for $388 / P4 3.2 $748 after $150 MIR/coupon (basic configuration) [3.2 deal Warm]

I will contact Dell support, and see what they have to say about this. I replaced the 128MB ECC DDR400 memory with 4 x 512MB DDR400 Samsung original memory. Running memtest86 @ 400MHz for 3 hours and no problems so far.

Just received my 3.2GHz system, but noticed the heatpipe is installed different from the picture shown here. The heat pipes were rubbing against the capacitors next to the socket. Anyone else has the same problem? Will post a picture shortly.

i have 2 sticks of 512mb kingston pc2700 memory. the one with samsung chips can run @ 225fsb @ 2.5-7-3-3 timing with 2.75v. no errors running memtest86 (tested on abit is7). the other stick with nanya chips cannot even do 205fsb. just make sure you guys are getting the samsung chips ones. see...

What is the "HOT" overclocking P4 now?

I am getting two 2.4c 800FSB w/ HT next week from oversea. see the link, doing 3.6ghz on air at default voltage.

I'm running 2 sticks of 512mb Samsung original PC2700 @ 203fsb CAS 2.5-6-3-3 @ 2.6v rock stable on Abit IT7-MAX2 V2.0, Memtest86 tested over 7 hours with no errors. 845PE chipset seems to handle 2 sticks of memory at high speed better than 845E.

Just got mine, XMS3500 512MB Platinum Series, directly from Corsair. Sandra Memory test: @166FSB @2.7v 3:4 Cas 2-3-2-5 3404/3400, ran Memtest86 over 10 hours, no errors. @167FSB @2.7v 3:4 Cas 2-3-2-5 3416/3419 I am extremely happy with the memory.

Abit BD7-II highest FSB w/ 3:4 memory ratio?

There is a guy from Overclockers Forums running 170fsb with 3:4 memory ratio (DDR452). It's just amazing.

The heatsink is a prototype from TaiSol, which is not available yet. I just took some pictures, and have not tried it yet. One thing I know the production ones will be made of copper. I'll keep you guys posted.

Just bought a new 1.6a running @ 175fsb, vcore= 1.81 on my friend's Abit BD7II (845E chipset), memory timings are 2-2-2-5 Everything is stable so far, will run some intensive tests later. CPU Pack Date: 04/10/02, I'm seeing more and more people hitting 2.8Ghz now. Here are some benchmarks...

bd7 driving me crazy

i don't think you can disable the speaker on the motherboard. do you have the same problem when you reset bios and run it at default speed? if not, have you tried with a different brand of ddr?

MSI 845 ultra ARU vs. Epox 4BDA2+

Don't buy Gigabyte, I tried and returned it already. I like the board's features, but cold boot problem will drive you crazy.

I have both boards and both are good. If you're planning on running > 150fsb, buy MSI, Epox is faster if both running at the same fsb. I'm having problem running EPOX 4BDA2+ at high fsb > 153. My ATI Radeon 8500 can't handle it even with PCI/AGP fixed @ 33/66. Anyone has the same problem...

Yeah, another 1.6A success story...but come on in to hear about the really sweet EPOX 4BDA2+ *Updated* 2.4GHz/DDR400

I have a 1.6a that can run (16x170), but momory is running at (170x2). Which one is faster? Run it at (16x150), memory (200x2) or (16x170), memory(170x2)?

Just got a Gigabyte GA-8IRXP, and I noticed there is no clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard. Do I need to remove the battery every time when the BIOS is messed up? :|

Who has there 1.6a northwood at 2.4ghz?

<< very nice chiangm! I'd like to go for 166fsb, but I'm curious as to what vcore is too high. 1.6v is too high for me already. 1.65 would be 10% out of spec, and just doesn't seem good long term. As long as the CPU lasts at least 18 months I'd be happy. Just wonder how much is too much. >>...

Which P4 motherboards have PCI/AGP lock or 1/5 divider?

I have 2 P4 1.6a CPUs running @ 2656 (166 x 16) @ 1.75v, and can't run them any higher than 166 fsb. I think part of problem is APG which is running way high (83 x 4). Anyone knows which motherboards, have PCI/AGP lock or 1/5 divider that can help me to overclock higher? Thanks. Another...
