trouble with s.m.a.r.t. on win98se box

No RPM reading for 80mm NMB Ultra Quiet 3-pin fans?

I suppose I don't have a real reason to need to monitor the RPMs, but I feel like I've been misled, and I hate that feeling. If they are advertised as "w/RPM", I expect it to work. I've played with motherboard monitor and with hardware doctor, but they don't give anything but zero with either...

*DEAD*,but similar are available--Chieftec SX1040 Cases for $35!!!

Anybody buy this case from them WITHOUT the window? I'm curious to know whether the non-windowed version has a fan in side panel or not (won't really be room next to the case to see through the window or for air to move freely in my setup).

USB 1.1 vs 2.0

Is there a physical difference in the USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 connectors themselves? For example, if a case is advertised as having "front USB 1.1", can I hook up spare USB 2.0 headers from my motherboard to those front ports and use USB 2.0 devices at USB 2.0 speeds on those ports? Thanks!
