Hi. I was wondering if anyone could identify this case for me. What is this?

what heatsink to use on an amd 2700xp cpu?

I'd probably suggest an SLK-800 with an adjustable Enermax 80mm fan.

    Dead CPU???

Buz2b: You were right about the Panaflo. I replaced it with an Adda fan (the model that comes stock in the front of Lian-Li cases) that has an rpm-sensing cable. It is running at 2700rpm as we speak (so apparently the BIOS will let the computer start with less than 3000rpm, but you were at...

    Dead CPU???

Buz2b: Yeah, it didn't make any sense to me either. The only thing I did was change the heatsinks. The fans were all plugged into the same headers. The only thing I can think of is that the fan on the Alpha (a Panaflo L1a) is causing problems because it doesn't have a RPM sensing wire. I'll...

    Dead CPU???

I'm using an Antec True480, so the power supply definitely isn't an issue. Actually, I just got it working by switching the heatsink from the Alpha to a Vantec w/6800rpm Delta Fan.

    Dead CPU???

OK, I'm in desperate need of some help, so if you're reading this please take the time to respond if you have any ideas. Here's my situation. I have an MSI KT3 ULTRA (non-ARU) and an Athlon XP1800+ cooled by an Alpha PAL8045 w/ L1A. The problem is, when I use this cpu and turn on the...

    DVD-Rom Troubles...

I've already changed the cable, and the problem persists. I guess even more than a fix I'd like an explanation of why this happens (I'm replacing the mobo later this week as part of a major system upgrade). I've had this configuration for over a year, and I'm just noticing the problem; it used...

    DVD-Rom Troubles...

Hi all, I'm having a really weird problem between my DVD-ROM drive (Toshiba SD-M1402) and my motherboard (MSI K7TPro-2a). When the computer starts up, the drive isn't recognized by the BIOS (where it lists all the drives connected to the IDE controllers) if there's a disc in the drive. However...

Will an AX-7 fit on these motherboards?

Hi all: I remember a thread from awhile back where people listed the motherboards that an AX-7 could be successfully installed on. I tried searching for it but got no results, so I need to ask my question. Will a Thermalright AX-7 fit on a Shuttle AK-35GT2/R and an MSI KT3 ULTRA-ARU? These...

Aluminum vs Steel Case - heat release and cooling

In the real world, the faster heat dissipation of aluminum doesn't mean much. Your CPU will likely run at the same temperature as with a traditional steel case. However, for only a $25 difference it's definitely worth moving to aluminum, if only for the difference in weight.

What to do with empty external drive bays?

One thing I just recently added to my computer was buttons to control Winamp. They're mounted in an extra 3.5" drive bay (at the bottom of the case, not the most convenient place, but this was more of an experiment). Search Hardforum for "Controlling Winamp through buttons" and you'll see a...

    Accurate Temperatures?

Hi all. I recently installed MBM5 and was somewhat surprised to see the temperatures for my Athlon T'Bird 900: 23c idle and never goes above 30c. This is with a Vantec CCK6035 and a 30-something CFM Sunon fan. I don't think these temps are at all accurate. What do you think?

    Replacing Power Supply Fan

Most people who've replaced their PSU fans use Panaflo L1A's, since they're quiet but move a decent amount of air. ***DOH!!! Someone posted at the same time as me...***

    Aluminum Case suggestions...

I got a PC-75 about a week ago, and I'm absolutely loving it. It has tons of space and is light! Build quality is nice. I'd definitely recommend the PC-7x series.

Volcano II HSF - too old or not?

Eek, whatever you do, do it quick. That processor is waaay too hot. My Athlon 900 never gets above 25C (MBM5). This is with a Vantec CCK6035D w/ Sunon 60mm.

Attaching Coolermaster HSF to Geforce2 GTS?

Also, would I need to worry about there being too much weight pulling down on the card? The heatsink doesn't feel that heavy, but I thought I should probably ask.

Attaching Coolermaster HSF to Geforce2 GTS?

Attaching Coolermaster HSF to Geforce2 GTS?

Hi all. I recently replaced the HSF unit on my now-aging 900 T'Bird. Having an extra heatsink and all, I began to look at my options. It seemed that there would be some way to attach the old coolermaster cpu heatsink to my video card: a 32 meg Geforce2 GTS. Has anyone done this before? Any...

    DVD-ROM Help!!!

OK, I have a Toshiba SD-M1402 DVD-ROM drive set as a slave on my secondary IDE channel. My problem is, the other day when I restarted my computer, when the BIOS lists the drives on each IDE channel, the name for the DVD-ROM was jumbled or corrupted or something. The computer will start up, but...

Is there a way to check the HDD temperature?

I use a program called HDD Temperature. I think it's available for download at this site.. It only works for IDE drives and doesn't work with RAID setups.

    Swiftech 462

The only thing I can think of is that the motherboard doesn't think there's a fan plugged in to the CPU fan header and the PC is shutting down as a precautionary measure. Is the fan plugged in to the motherboard or directly to the power supply?

    Installing a new fans... Help?

Here are my answers to your questions: 1: As long as you get the fan on secure and blowing in the right direction, you shouldn't have any problems. 2: There are two main types of power connectors: 4-pin, which get plugged directly to the leads from your power supply, and 3-pin, which can be...

    Discharging a PSU Capacitor

I'm thinking of changing the fans on my PSU to L1A's, but I'm afraid of serious injury. I was wondering what the best way to discharge the capacitors before I begin working on the PSU. One person I talked to suggested taking a plugged in extension cord and touching the grounding pin to each...

    Dynamat Opinions

Dynamat seems so expensive that you'd probably be better off spending your $$$ on quieter/more efficient fans. As someone else said, it would be a last resort.

Is The Lian-Li PC-65 with window louder then a PC-60 without window?

I think I read somewhere that the windows are glued in addition to riveted, so this should cut down somewhat on rattling and the like.

How many case fans can be powered by 350 W PS??

Don't be surprised if your problems go away once you get the new HSF. While I'm not sure whether or not your problems are heat-related, you definitely could add more fans while keeping your current power supply.

    Making my own Fan Controllers?

I don't think it'll look bad. Certainly no worse than having a face plate littered with switches. I was thinking something like black rocker switches (my case is a black Addtronics 6896a) that would be unobtrusive. What sort of parts should I get at Radio Shack? I just want to turn the fans...

    Making my own Fan Controllers?

I have come to a point in the quest for the perfect case that I need to have something to control the various fans in my case. Thing is, I don't want the switches on a faceplate, I want them right next to the fan that they control. Any ideas on how to do this? I have pretty much no electrical...
