Just bought i7 860 and an Asus board yesterday. However, I read the reviews on various websites that i860 runs pretty hot with stock cooler. Can anyone recommend a good cooler not too big? Thanks.

My CPU temperature reading dropped to 29C from 38C (idle) and 45C from 52C(full load) after I flashed BIOS. Is this possible? or just the reading is not correct either with old version bios or new one?

The CPU did run pretty stable at 1910MHz (166MHz FSB) at default voltage. I touched the heatsink, it was kind of warm . However, when I got into BIOS...CPU was indicated running at 87C. Really HOT!!! Hahhaha...
Price of hard drives is down dramatically. My thought is that the manufacturers are phasing out IDE drives and Serial ATA will become major player soon in storage market.
Since the price of Barton Athlon comes down so much, I just wonder if I could install Barton on my old board 7vrx from Gigabyte. This board only supports 100 and 133MHz fsb. Anyone tried before? Thanks.

One thing I just dont understand. Why a sound card is so expensive? Even CPU price is falling down so dramamtically. A big main board with many different controller chips is only $100, more or less.

Got the 40G maxtor I ordered on Sunday. Opened the box......, inside is a slim Diamond plus 8, one of the fastest drives available :). Pretty hot for those need speed, not capacity.
