Seagate IDE HD drives - good stuff?

Well, for the price you could probably find a better deal under the Hot Deals forum. The only problem with that is you sometimes need to order online or have to do some leg work. As for Seagate Drives, I like them. They are generally a quiet drive but tend to be a little slower on the HD...

Which PCI ethernet card is better?

I agree with Sohcrates and the general assumption about Nic cards. I'm not sure if your specific Nics are listed here, but Tom had a review on Nics awhile back Link. I hope that helps.

if you feel it may be the HD or other device, then unplug everything but leave the CPU, ram and Vid card. You should not need any IDE devices to post into the BIOS as long as you have ram, cpu and vid, you could also take out the ram or vid and see if you get those BIOS error beep codes, at...

Hows the Seagate Barracuda IV?

I?ve got the 30 gig 7200 Seagate Barracuda and it is quiet but not the fastest drive out there. I would recommend it though as I do enjoy the little to no noise it produces (or at least i cant hear it over my fans). Yonux

Upgrade CPU or Video Card?

I would go for the CPU, is that MSI GF2 Pro 64 Meg? Your video should be fine for awhile and I think you would see the greatest performance increase with a faster processor. oh yeah,. don?t tell your wife you spent her present money on a new CPU and make her a nice candle light dinner =) Yonux

Oh,. One last thing, if you enabled the sound in the BIOS and in the BIOS post you see some mention of the onboard sound, along with verifying any MOBO jumpers then try one last thing. If you open up your Device manager in your windows 98, you may see a category for ?other devices? if you do...

Does your motherboard manual indicate anything about a Jumper in reference to your sound? maybe a jumper fell off, otherwise if the Bios does not even see it on post then maybe its defective. Unfortunately I have no experience with that mobo so I'm just guessing here, maybe contact the vendor to...

POLL: Lite-On - Good Optical drives? (DVD, CD, CD-RW)

I own both the 16xDVD and 24xCDRW from Lite-On, both are good drives. I do agree with glenn1 about the tray door opening slowly, but as he said this is only trivial as both drives are solid and I loved the great price. I got both from newegg and am pleased I did. Yonux

I?m not sure if this will help, but you could try deleting the Temp internet Files from within the IE Internet options Tab and select the remove offline content too. You could also remove your cookies,. (this may not be an option if you save your passwords and don?t remember them). I don?t know...

Roxio Easy CD 5.0 Plat vs Neror 5.5.5.1

The one thing I would not do is put them BOTH on the same computer. There is a strongly worded README in NEro that says not to do that because they use different files that can conflict because they have the same name. umm,. I will see what happens, I hope Easy CD Creator 5.0 plat and Nero...

well, I reformatted my HD and reloaded Windows XP. I then downloaded all updates one at a time and reloaded my software. I loaded Nero first then Easy CD Creator, It appeats to be working fine now. Thanks everyone for your help. Yonux

I use Nero 5.5.5.1 and I have not seen your problem (though I have only burned 3 music Cds), The strange thing is I was having your problem with my Easy CD Creator 5.0 Plat. I thought about upgradeding the Firmware for the 24x lite-on that I own, but just wasnt sure if that would help or hurt...
