90FPS hard limit in RtCW??

I know for a fact that you CAN up the FPS display limit I just can't remember how to do it via the console :) I suggest heading over to the RTCW specific forums at www.planetwolfenstein.com or the like. I'm sure you'll find an answer there.

Need new card, Have $130, what are my best options?

I have to reiterate that if you're going to get a GF3 Ti200 then go with Gainward GS. They overclock to Ti500 levels because of the 3.8ns DDR. They advertise it as 4ns DDR but if you take the heat sinks off you'll actually find 3.8. Some of the Ti200 cards out there use 4.5ns DDR so watch out.

Get the Gainward GF3 Ti200 Golden Sample. It should be in the $150 range from newegg. These cards are the best overclockers out there. Stock speed is 175core/400mem. Most people are running at 220-240core / 520-560mem with no problems. I'm running very stable at 535core/535mem. Great card.

Riva station just reviewed the GF4, I think.

I got a kick out of their last comment... As for the competition, NVIDIA need not worry. The TI4600 just bought the company a comfortable performance lead, proving almost twice as fast as the RADEON 8500 in some benchmarks. The Canadians should have no lack of motivation now.

I need a geforce 3 overclocking utility....

I currently use NVMax under WinXP and love it. I never could get it to work right under Win2000 for some reason so I used RivaTuner instead which is another good one.

RTCW Server?

I can't remember the name of the server but there's a guy out there running a dedicated server on a dual Athlon PC with a gig of RAM. He had it set to 48 players and it was the fastest thing I've ever seen. My ping was around 35 or so.

Best video card for gaming around 100$?

Get the Gainward GF3 Ti200 GS450! Overclocking ability is phenomenal. Prices should be coming down as well since the GF4 is coming out.

Anyone modded a Gainward GF3 Ti200??

I've been playing with my settings on my Gainward the past few days and it looks like 240 is the limit for me on the core. Anything above that causes sporadic crashes and XP says the Gainward could not complete a drawing operation. I pushed the memory up as well but didn't find much...

Download a copy of 3DMark2001 which is a free benchmarking utility. The tests it run (graphic instense game scenes and some other stuff) really stress the card and if you see any artifacts (anything out of the ordinary that shouldn't be there...i.e. blue or green spots) or if the system locks...

Anyone modded a Gainward GF3 Ti200??

Do a search...I haven't heard of many problems with pushing memory past 530-540. Personally, I run 235core/530mem. I've run the mem up to 560 with no artifacts but the 3DMark2001 score didn't jump enough to justify leaving it there. BTW, stock cooling.

23.12 nVidia WHQL Drivers out!

For what it's worth, I've never had ANY problems with 23.11's on Win2K Pro or XP Pro. Running a Gainward Ti200 (230core/530mem) on a PIII 800.

Athlon XP compatible MB Recomendations

Ditto on the Epox 8KHA+. www.newegg.com has it for $105, the XP CPU's for $200-250 depending on which one you go with and Crucial DDR RAM for $63 per 256MB stick. Make sure you have a 350W power supply or better for this board. I've heard 300W may be ok but 350W is a sure bet.

Interesting stuff. I do find it odd that he can't get his mem speed any higher though. Especially with a Gainward. I was thinking the core speed was causing it to crash. If he lowers that perhaps he can bump the memory up.

Gogoman - have you tried lowering the core speed and rasing the mem speed? I believe you'll get better performance by doing this. Try 220 or 225core and 530 mem.

Is there a specific Core:Memory ratio you should adhere to when o/c'ing the GF3?

There's no optimal ratio but I'd say you're a little low on the memory side. You should easily get 530 out of that gainward card. I actually tested mine up to 240core/560mem with no problems but I'm running at 225core/530mem because I didn't see much improvement after that. I believe I'm CPU...

Overclocking the Gainward Geforce 3 Ti 200...

I too had the same problem while using NVmax and Powerstrip. I switched to RivaTuner and now the slider bars go up to 265core/600mem. I'm running the Gainward Ti200 GS at 225core/530mem. I tested higher but the 3Dmark2001 score didn't go up much so I left it at these settings to be safe.

Where to download Nvmax?

FYI...I found out that I could clock higher with RivaTuner than with NVMax on my Gainward GF3 Ti200 card. NVMax was limiting me to 220core/500 mem for some odd reason. RivaTuner maxes out at 265core/600mem. I'm running at 225core/530mem.

What's the highest quality GF3 Ti200 board?

In regards to the CPU question, I'm only running an 800MHz PIII and can tell you that I'm certainly benefiting from the GF3 card. Don't believe the hype about needing a 1.5+MHz CPU :D It's CERTAINLY going to help but on a 1GHz CPU you'll benfit from the GF3. Now go buy it already :D
