Reasonable Video Cards

That 7800 GT is "recertified"...does that usually mean it was returned, but found to have no problem...ie, like an "open box" item... The other eVGA is all of a sudden out of stock...just my luck! Any other suggestions if I don't want to pony up the extra $30-$40?

Reasonable Video Cards

Multiple XP Home Problems...

Hello - On a desktop, first problem was "missing or corrupt ntoskrnl.exe." I got into Recovery Console, and copied over a new file, and the boot started. Then, got a "missing or corrupt ntfs.sys". Same process, I replaced it. But then when I rebooted, the Windows XP first start-up...

Dell Latitude C600 - Add a CD R/W?

I have a Dell C600, Pentium III 750 Mhz that is 18 months old or so....not sure exactly. Does anyone know if there are any used internal CD R/W that is available for these units, or as an after-market or used or anything? Dell sells them for $129....seems sorta steep to me I need to burn...

PCMCIA USB 2.0 Card Recommendations?

UPDATE: More probs with ASUS A7N266-VM

Still running like a champ, rock solid, and the graphics/audio are more than acceptable for kids games. The network through the Siemens router went great - painless and fast. Still did not install the unified driver drivers.... Only problem seems to be periodic in IE - sometimes get a runtime...

Well - I go the new CPU installed, and she fired right up. I do not see any scorching or anything like that on the old one. I bought the 1-yr warranty from New Egg, so I guess I'll send it back and see what happens. I like the new HS/F (the Coolermaster variable speed one) - but I don't like...

I tested the PSU with Antec's PS tester before I sent the MB back to Newegg....so I am thinking that is not the problem. But who knows at this point!? Yes, it is the same CPU as before - so I guess it is possible that I messed it up somehow - but the shim was extremely thin - and actually was...

Well - I disconnected the floppy, and the CD-ROM....no change. I disconnected the HD as well...No change... I do get the 2 beeps all the time now - still no video signal at all...just an amber light on the monitor... Any idea what the 2 beeps continuously repeating is all about? I haven't...

Reseating everything? Wouldn't the PS power up even if the CPU was shot or there was no RAM? Wouldn't I get an error on the POST if the RAM or CPU was messed up? I will try clearing the CMOS...I could see how that would mess things up... I always hate taking off the heat sink/cooler and...

XP & Second Hard Drive Problems

I put XP on a clean drive, and then tried to slave a second drive. The BIOS recognizes the drive as a slave, and when I go into Device Manager, the drive is listed and says it is functioning properly. BUT - When I do My Computer, it does not show up. The Master is C:, and D: is my CD R/W...
