I build a new PC every 3-4 years. It's time for a new one, and I haven't kept up with the latest hardware technology. Here is what I use it for:
Dual 24" Dell Widescreen Monitors (1920x1200) - Video card must have dual DVI
Casual Gamer, but I'd like to be able to play the latest RTS and FPS...
Now I'm even more confused. I re-installed the Xvid codec and the the problem went away. I tried playing another video and it came back. So I re-installed the xvid codec again and it work.
So now instead of having to reboot everytime, I just need to re-install xvid. What could be causing this?
I downloaded a few TV episodes to watch on my computer but they won't play smoothly. There isnt huge jerkyness, but it just isn't smooth.
The only way I can get the files to play smoothly is if I play a video right after I reboot without trying to run any programs. It will play perfectly when...
I dont need to game at 1920x1200. Playing at 1280x1024 is fine. Will my 2405FPW recognize the game at that resolution and apply the black bars?
I also dont mind having one lcd on VGA, and the other on DVI. The performance and appearance is minimal right?
Ive been looking at a 6600 GS with...
That makes sense and explains why VGA is working.
Now to my next question. Can you recomend a good AGP card that will be able to power two 2405FPWs thats under $250?
I have a 9700 pro that I've been using for dual LCD monitors. I've tried using the DVI port numerous times, but it doesnt work on any LCDs. The strange part is that if I use a DVI-VGA adapter on that port, it will work with a VGA cable.
So obviously the port is able to send out the signal...
How does this card look?

Is the 6800 signigicantly better than the 6600?

I know some people are predicting the Canadian Dollar to pass the American Dollar by the end of the year, but this seems a little odd.
I just got a Dell 2405FPW and love it! I want to get a second one but I'm not sure which video card to get. Here is the problem:
I currently have the 24" and an 18" LCD hooked up to my 9700 pro through DVI and VGA. I would like to get a video card that has dual DVI but I'm not sure if there...
Re-installed driver... no luck.
mchammer187: How do you figure that its the video card? By using the adapter that plugs in to the DVI port on my video card, doesnt that prove that the DVI is working on my video card?
Auric: I tried searching on Dell forums for DVI issues but couldnt find any...
I was just checking my email when my screen went black all of a sudden!
I rebooted and I could tell that it got in to windows fine cause I heard the windows login sound but my screen was stil black!
So I decided to try VGA which works fine.
How can I determine if the problem is with my Dell...
I just bought these speakers and the LCD display on the Control center is barely visible. The blue light comes on, but the black text is extremely faint.
Is this a common problem? Is there any way to fix it?
If not, should I contact the store I bought it from or Logitech?
Thanks for any help!
Just took a peek at the FutureShop flyer and they have a Labour Day sale on from Aug 29 - Sept. 4.
$99.99 for a Western Digital 120GB 8MB. I just paid $100 USD for one of these! Guess I'll get a second one now.
Finally a good sale for us Canadians!
I have almost all my parts bought for me new system. Now I just need a case. I know nothing about cases so I thought I'd ask for some advice.
I've been looking at a few Antec models which seem decent and come with a reliable power supply.
What would you recomend for the following system?
P4...
Bought mine last night. Should have it next week. I've heard everyone rave about this LCD.
Any suggestions on setting it up? I remember reading about having to do something with cleartype and turnng down the brightness?
Can't wait to game on this, and then try out dual monitors with my 19"...
GrrRR so frustrating!
Dell US wont ship it to me in Canada. And Dell Canada wants to sell it to me for $830 Canada! (About $500 + shipping + tax)
Anyone suggestions?
Anyone in the US wanna make a few extra bucks and buy one for me and then ship it to me?
*sigh*
Any Canadians know how we can take advantage of this?
I've been wanting this LCD for SOO long. And I dont mind paying $US since the Canadian dollar is so strong now.
Would Dell US ship to me here in Canada?
Would Dell Canada give me the same deal?
Help! =)

newbiepcuser:
I was planning on having two drives so that I can copy directly from the DVD to the CDRW.
Would I be better off getting a DVD/ CDRW combo and a DVD Burner?
I like Asus too. I have an Asus video card and mobo in my current computer. Which Asus mobo model(s) should I look at for...
Profit sharing just came in and its time to build a new computer! (My P3 600 just isnt cutting it anymore).
I plan on building it myself, but I'm a bit out of the loop with some of the new technology out now. So here are a few questions.
1. I want to go with Intel, probably at 2.4Ghz. Which...

DEAD - HOT - It's back again - Dell 1800FP at SB for $382 + tax
Well to answer my own question I called Dell...
I guess getting the non-AIW is the best choice then..... although I really wanted that kool remote.
Any idea what else I'll be missing without the AIW?
I will mostly be using to the TV Tuner card to watch TV while I surf, irc, icq etc...
Will the WinTV card allow you to do that cool overlay feature that makes the TV image transparent? (I know the AIW can do it).
I also plan to use it like Tivo since there are no PVR options here in Canada.
I was just about to buy an ATI AIW 9700 pro when I found out that it does not support dual monitors (only has DVI). GGrrrrRRR :frown:
So now I am left with a choice:
1. Get 9700 pro (non-AIW) and then buy a TV Tuner card
or
2. Get a AIW 9700 pro and buy a pci card for the second monitor...
