American. But you're just not getting HL2 with that. If you just want HL2, get the bronze version. With the silver version you get, HL2, Half Life:Source, Day of Defeat: Source, and Half Life + all the mods.

Gamespot: HL2 released Friday November 12th?

They never promised that. People said they promised that, but nobody from valve EVER said that they'd release it if someone broke the street date. In fact, people who bought the game can't even play it right now since they have to activate it with steam. And that doesn't start working untill...

theInq: Half-Life 2 is piracy savvy

Not yet. You need to have internet access at least once to activate the game. After that you can play offline whenever you want. I'm sure some type of phone activation system is in the works, but its not avaibile yet.

Getting a new crt monitor..

I had one of these before I got my 19" LCD. I found the text to be a little blurry at anything above 1152x864, but I'm kinda sensitive about those things. Other than that, it was a very good monitor. Speaking of being sensitive..1280x1024 is not a standard 4:3 res...running a CRT at this...

Lost XP (OEM) CD - Now what?

Huh? What users have you talked to? Most people seem to have no problems with SP2, espically if they just slipstreamed it in. Most of the problems have cropped up from people installing it on systems which already have a bunch of stuff on them. Sure there's people with problems, but people...

audio cable not required for cd and dvd drives??

Since Windows XP (and 2k if you enabled it), It's been grabbing the audio cd stuff as data over the IDE cable. I haven't had an audio cable for a few years now.

Good 19"+ LCD

LCDs tend to be easier on the eyes than CRTS do, they put out less heat, use less electricity and they're much lighter for easier transport if you happen to frequent lan parties or somthing. The only downsides are the native resolution thing and the ghosting, which is slowling fading away...

whats the best way to synchronize files between my laptop and my desktop?

Offline files are only availible in windows XP Professional and windows 2000. So if you're on XP Home it's not going to work. Well...at least one of the computers needs to be XP Pro or win2k. The other one can be anything. Just set up the offline stuff on the system that supports it. I use...

Max of 60FPS on any game

Ususally, the fps in games is locked to the refresh rate of your monitor. for most LCDs and some crts with video cards that have buggy drivers some games are set to play using a 60hz refresh rate, causing your framerate to never exceed 60fps. turning vsync off allows the video card to display...

XP - How to use built in scheduler to hotsync at a specified time?

Hotsync as in sync a palmOS device? As far as I know the sync has to be started by the palm(IE, going to the hotsync app and tapping the button or pressing the button on the cradle/cable). The desktop can't start it. If you're not talking about a Palm then ignore me ;)

POLL: mp3 vs. ogg

At lower bitrates( Less than 128kbps for say, streaming internet radio), ogg vorbis blows away mp3. The difference is much less noticable at the bitrates most people encode stuff at though. ..Which someone already said. Whoops, didn't notice that on my first read through ;)

For the Klipsch GMX 5.1 and Audigy 2, can I get sound from all speakers?

You're looking for the soundstorm and it's only availible on motherboards which are based on nvidia's nForce chipset (all of them excluding the nForce3). They don't sell it as a stand alone product, so if you want it you're going to have to get a nForce motherboard. Looking at your sig, looks...
