Its an hour and fifteen to the nearest city with a Circuit City store. 15 min each way allocated for driving through city traffic to get to the actual store.
That was a really snotty comment and I don't like it one bit. You obviously didn't think before you spoke. Did you even read the post? Its an hour and fifteen minutes drive (ONE WAY). Thats 3 hours of drive time, not counting the time spent at the store. Furthermore, Circuit City is not open...
brucekatz, you are misleading people. The deal is 199.99 AFTER the $100 rebate. You said $199.99 and $100 rebate giving the impression that the sale price was what you actually pay for the item before the rebate.
Ok, this may make me look really stupid... but I don't care.
I have an Athlon XP 1700+ with a Thermaltake Volcano 6cu+ and I wasn't satisfied with the temps (~50 C full load).
So, I got a 80mm fan from an old PS and tried to splice it into one of the cables running from the Power Supply in my...
I'm using a Volcano 6cu on my Athlon XP 1700+ and it cools very well.
With Folding@home running (similar to SETI@home), the max cpu temp I have reached is 44C. My case temp high is 33C.
My average according to Motherboard Monitor 5 is cpu temp of 41C and an avg. case temp of 31C.
Be sure to...
Hey,
I need some assistance. I am building a new system with Shuttle AK31 rev. 3.1 mobo, Athlon XP 1700+ CPU, Volcano 6cu hs/fan, 300w approved PS, etc.
I currently have a PIII 500mhz system with win 2000 pro installed on it.
My question is, can I just put this HD in the new system and it...
Yep newegg is OOS on the 1600+ OEM... but why not just pick up the 1700+?
I was also going to get the 1600+ but then when they went OOS I saw that the 1700+ was only like 14 bucks more ($136)! So I got it!
I think they have went up like 3 bucks since I placed my order (on 1/7/02). But the...
darn newegg was oos on the 1600 OEM so i got the athlon 1700+.
Now i see this and its only approved up to 1600.
Would it work ok with a 1700? Anyone tried it? Please help!
I sucessfully canceled my order with PC Beyond!!! YAY!
I'm going to order from newegg! They are the bomb... its worth the extra 10-15 bucks for HIGH quality service and product!
Thanks for the tips guys.
Well I don't plan on OCing and if I do, it won't be much. I got the Ahtlon XP 1700+, so maybe from 1.466mhz to 1.5 but I seriously doubt anything more than that.
I picked up some Arctic Silver II also. So, with the ASII and the V6cu, I think it will be ok.
Well heck, I already ordered it.
Im going to try it out, it might be pretty good. if not I'll just order that one from newegg and then auction this one on e-bay for 10-20 bucks more than I paid for it! If you didn't notice, that guy is selling these for around 40 and up plus 11.00 shipping...
.Because I saw a computer store selling the same case on e-bay and they have pics of the P/S with the AMD approval stickers on it... etc.
The link to the ebay listing is here.
It was convincing enough for me. Maybe not for you guys, but I got mine ordered.
Xbox rocks... the only reason you don't include it in the poll is because you know it is the champ! MUAHAHAHA!!!
XBOX KIX PS2 AND GAMECUBE IN THE BUTT!
I found this AWESOME case at PC Beyond.
It has a 400W Power supply. It is P4 and Athlon XP approved. The brand of the P/S is Wintech, and the brand of the case is Future Power.
The case has a silver looking front to it and it looks really sharp. Plus it has 2 front USB ports and a side...
Actually it would reduce copper to chip grinding in my case ;)
Also guys, does anyone know anything about the Volcano 6cu, is it a good fan? Is it very loud?
And how exactly do you apply the thermal grease?
Thanks.
Hey guys, I'm looking for some assistance.
I'm new to the forums. I've been reading them for about a week, but this is my first post.
I'm upgrading my outdated Intel PIII 500 to an Athlon 1600+.
I'm going to order the following (probably from newegg):
AMD Athlon 1600+ CPU
Shuttle AK31...
