i found a battlefield 2 benchmark comparing the ati 9800 to the 6800, on a test system of similar spec to mine [athlon xp 2600, 1 gig of ram], the the cheaper 9800 dominatesat higher settings. Could this be an optimization issue?

so yea, as the title says, i RMA'd a PSU and the new one isn't big enough. The perimiter of the psu is the same size as the perimiter of the space in the back of the case, so the screws wont line up.
the case is an antec sx840, and the psu is an antec smartpower 400w i think

well, i moved a few motherboard standoffs around, and installed everything, and it now works!
the system is however, on its side. my PSU is too small to fit in the holes, i think i need an adaptor piece of metal to fit the PSU, as i must have sent my old one off when i RMA'd. anyone...
UPDATE i follwed Ferns' advice of assembly the bare basics outside of the case, on a phonebook. i can report back that this DID work and the system came on. what now? should i start adding everything in outside of the case, and check that it still works?
EDIT: one thing i forgot to mention that is important is that, when the fans jolt, they dont keep jerking if i keep pressing the power button. to make them jolt again i have to turn it off at the back and wait a few seconds, then turn it on again.

it's actually not 'that' old a system. it's like 600mz celeron with 128 ram. it has a ps/2 port but he seems to only have a serial mouse, it'll be hard to get him to buy a new one as 'it worked before'
