i did a few things. my typing teacher at the time blew an eprom with basic so i could learn basic. after that, i had learned C, making anything from hello world to a crappy little accounting program for the family business.

Has anyone else here ever built their own PC? not talking about going to tiger.com, am talking about going down to your local hobby electronics shops and getting a Z80, 8212's, 8t97's, 2114's...etc. was digging thru my basement and ran across my first computer.. a z80, 2k eprom, 1k ram, 2 8...

... maybe a IPv4 TFTP server... leave it on and do a portscan, port 69/udp is tftp... then again, it doesnt have to be on a specific port.... just a guess...dont hold me to it.

as of 3 years ago<when i took the class> they where still talking about windows NT4 replacing unix.... as the up and coming thing...and windows 98 WILL be a better, more stable system....i am guessing they have re-vamped the test since then...at least i am hoping. it was a waste of time...but...

but aren't 1/4 and 1/2 wave radiators the only ones that you dont need to have some sort of matching unit on? 5/8 wave you have to have a tapped coil at the feedpoint for your transmitter to se a 50Ohm load .. or some other matching unit to bring it down from ~85-90 Ohms.

you may want to do a little research on docsis, you have to have line level amps, and return amps every so often to maintain the SNR. latency is not an issue, as docsis can handle somewhere around 30MB/s.

the formula is 234/freq for 1/4 wave antenna, and 468/freq for 1/2 wave antenna. here is the first hit off google. http://www.scanshack.com/antcal.htm if you have an antenna that is resonent, you will get better reception, and will have more power actually "make it out" of your antenna...

i have it here, as it is teh only way to get broadband in the middle of michigan..... i am not a gamer, so lag doesent mean crap. there is about a 2 second pause after i click on a link that it gomes down. i payed 100$ for hardware and 50$ a month from WMIS.Net. doesent seem to be that bad...

dumb@$$ me......ididnt make a copy of my httpd.conf before i edited it.....well, now everything is being pointed to the virtualhost i was trying to setup. Here is my httpd.conf. i've been beating my head over this for the past 2 days......can someone mpoint out where i messed up? TIA, Craig

Hello all, i seem to have aquired a mac<5200/200>. it is running os 8.1....i know, older.. am running into a problem, family needs messegers <msn, aim, icq, yahoo> for school<OL classes> and to keep in contact with family<cheaper than a call to them>, problem is noone has messengers available...
