    it's probably just the wire and connector. Klipsch ships the 2.1 and 4.1 with possibly the worst speakers wires this side of China. the ones they give you are 22gauge. switch to 18gauge by making your own speaker wires for a few bucks at Radio Shack. Get gold plated minijacks... those help...

    All Newegg refurbs are 'OEM, BAREBONE' it's their policy for refurbs so if anything was missing from the original owner, they don't have to take responsibility... most of the time though, everything is there and you don't need to worry too much... most of the time, mobos will come with the drive...
