Well, I am waiting for my 500MB of RAMBUS toarrive tomorrow so I can fire my GA-IHXP up and see how it is. In the mean time Ican say the manual(s) one for the MB and one for the RAID set up ... appear to be comprehensive. The overall quality of the board looks good but what do I know...this...
Newegg had them for $170 but when they did not show up on the Web site yesterday I called them to see why. They said they are out of stock and don't know how long before resupply. Then...I saw this post and immediately went to Spartantech and PCprogress. Spartan had the cheaper price by only...
I have just noticed that Newegg has taken the Gigabyte GA-8IHXP off of their website. It was on last evening for around $170 and now it is not shown at all. Anyone know more on this situation? Can't find it for sale anywhere at the moment. :(
I just noticed that Newegg just removed the Gigabyte GA-8IHXP motherboard from their wedsite. It was there yesterday for $170 and today it's gone. Anybody got more info regarding this?
Folks! You may find this editorial at Tom's Hardware interesting to read. It's called Rambus - Take 2 Is a Rambus Comeback in our Future? http://www.tomshardware.com/column/02q1/020215/index.html:)
My thoughts exactly Advocate. This will be my first upgrade/new PC since 1996 and I would like to be happy with it for another six or so years if that is possible!! Just trying to get the most bang for the $$ that I can.;)
Thanks everyone....I will be looking at the Intel board and the Abit Th7-2R. Overclocking is not my primary need and RAID need not be an on-board feature if the board offers the stability and other featurres I desire. I will try to stack them up against one another and see which looks best...
I have been poised to order that Gigabyte 8IRXP board for a while now and I was going to order through GoogleGear. Thanks to all your discussion I will save myself some trouble by looking at other boards and order elsewhere. I was also considering the Gigabyte 8ITXR but from most of the...
Everyone seems to be very familiar with the i845 motherboards supporting ddram but what is the top of the line 850 based motherboard using rdram and perhaps with usb 2.0, RAID and onboard nic AND stable?
I am not sure I understand all I should about memory types etc but from what I can see both the Gigabyte GA-8ITXR w/850 chipset and GA-*IRXP w/845 Chipset support ECC memory. Is "registered" an additional feature or part of the ECC description? Hope this is germane to your request for info. :)

I just saw a discussion that seemed to conclude that a scsi disc drive configuration would be the better way to go than a RAID set up for my proposed application. True? I really want to make this the best set-up from the start without having to upgrade or alter it in the near future.
tornadobox - Thanks! I will look further into the Dazzle Digital video creator card. Hopefully it call input analog and convert to digital for editing.
ahsia - Thanks! Wonder why you would suggest the Abit board over teh Gigabyte. Price only or some other aspect of the board. I am...

"There is nothing wrong with the board, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, but I think that 850 is the way to go for the Pentium 4, and really I would rather get Abit TH7II-RAID but if u want the extra's (sound, USB 2.0 namely) than you might want to go it but if you only need RAID (Or...
