I currently have a single stick 512MB Crucial CAS3 SDRAM (SDRAM) in my Abit KT7A-RAID. Works perfect. I am thinking of going with another 512MB stick of a different brand, possibly Generic to save cost.
Question is:
(1) Is it worth it to go 1GIG RAM. I know there is a debate on this a while...
I have this same board...With RAID (KT7A-RAID)..BIOS at A9 (Latest)
And just dropped in a 1.33 Athlon T-Bird. 115FSBX12 Seems stable, but CPU temps are going from 45C-53C. Reading from PC Health in BIOS.
I am using Cooler Master heat sink and Volcano 6CU Fan.
My next step is to connect...
Well, I freeze my drive a while back, managed to get it up for a few weeks, and not it dies again. Tried the Freezer thing a few times and nothing works. Click of Death.
Quantum Fireball 40GIG
I did an RMA on this drive already, but did not send the drive back ;). I guess I will not be...
Its confirmed on Kingston site:
PC133 modules MAY NOT BE BACKWARD COMPATIBLE to PC100 machines. Systems using the 440BX, 810 or 810e chipsets should only use PC100 memory
I am looking for some suggestions on CPU upgrade. Currently in my system is an Athlon T-Bird 800Mhz chip (On a KT7A-RAID v1.0). So I am limited to up to Athlon T-Bird 1.4Gig. Do you think it?s a good upgrade going to a 1.33Ghz or 1.4Ghz T-Bird. I am not sure how much benefit I could get...
What about buying warranty from places like Future Shop (Canada) or Best Buy. Buy their "in store warranty" for X Years and if you don't like the drive ... too small ... send it to the concrete floor and you have a bad sector. Screw HD companies, deal with the crooks at these BOX stores lol.
If you have the cash, I'd recommend axis.com's Network camera, Check their site and you'll be impressed. Very expensive, but those are the ones people use for Live CAMS on the net.
If you show off yourself in the yard sale being a geek,..well you better have Linux Mandrake install. Or else play stupid and ask your sis or mom to help you sell. People who know nothing about computers would not even know how to format the drive what more to say partition. So to get most...
Is it possible to get TV reception if someone is subscribe to Broadband (Cable) with no basic cable subscription ? I heard somewhere that you can do this but how, and what do you need ?
Thanks
I believe these guys at ASThost can accomodate your request. I join them before and had no problems configuring the extensions. You can add you MIME types from their Control Panel (aka CPanel).
Supports MIME types: application/pdf, application/vnd.fdf
Supports file extensions: .pdf, .fdf...
Someone on this forum pointed out LOLthis link for CDRW overclocking. I am still looking into this myself...Need to know if I could make my new Lite-On 32X12X40X go faster.
Surprise: Floopy Drive.
I love due to the fact that, Floppy is something that do not get absolute (Exclude the 120MB drive). All other components requires upgrade, and seing new products in the market makes you like the newer parts more than your existing one. You will most likely keep you...
What kind of drive will Maxtor be shipping you, and what kind will you be sending them ? I also heard that sometimes they will send you a larger drive if they do not have the similar drive in stock. Is there any benefit doing Advanced Replacement over Standard Replacement for this case ? I...
I owned a KDS monitor for almost 3 years now. Starting last week I noticed the top right hand corner of the screen seem to be flickering...like going into Degauss. I think something is wrong with the contacts. I guess I had got my money worth with it. Paid CDN$299 3 years ago so, that was a...
I owned a 40gig Quantum Fireball (Maxtor) and a 40gig Seagate Barracuda IV. 2 running on different system. I have to say that both are great. I prefer the Seagate tho. I have not heard a Hard Drive that quiet before. I'd say go with Seagate...Again depends on what you're looking for.
If your modem manufacturer does not have the drivers for WinXP or 2000. Change the modem to use Standard 56000 Bps Modem settings. I have an OLD ISA modem USR 33.6 Voice modem and there is no Win2000/XP drivers for it, have been using the Standard Modem Drivers since. No problems with them...
Clean Install WinXP using the 6 floopy sets or Bootable CD.
Make sure you do not install the 4-in-1 drivers....
Microsoft Windows XP has native XP support and 4-1 drivers usually are not needed.
The 4-1 screwed my WinXP too.
I have additional RJ45 lines that I used for wiring the house. Basically I do not have enough PCs to use all of the RJ45 lines. I know you can use the 8 piece of wires to connect Phone line.
Has anyone use the RJ45 cable for other use ? Like maybe making a serial cable, parallel, USB or...
Hi Guys,
What do you think I should do to make this machine faster ?. If overclocking is the answer, where can I find the settings for this board.
ABIT KT7A-RAID
Athlon T-Bird 800Mhz (Not overclocked)
CPU Fan (Normal Fan)
Radeon 7500 (64MB DDR)

Power Calibration Error. Most likely SOL. Same as my old HP4020i. Its sitting there idle doing nothing now. Most likely your 2x2x8x is no more under warranty. I gave up on HP and now own a Plextor 4X12X (Ext SCSI). Still very old but extermly reliable. Its a good time for you to upgrade to...
bluemax,
Bite the bullet and go for Radeon 7500 DDR (Retail). I just picked one up at Staples for $229.95 before taxes. It replaces my Voodoo 2 3000 16MB AGP. So far so good. I am not a gamer, and it is very sharp in 2D.
Running under WinXP Pro Corp
Go for it
You can get it cheaper at...
This is not going to happen. They had talked about this a while back. Way back in 1998, they talked about the levy and got me into Stocking up over 200+ blanks. I still have about 100 of them BTW. The way the Canadian Government works....is.... Lets tax as much as possible and when its time...
I read somewhere that 3COM's NIC will process its instructions on their chip. Personally I don't think its worth it for personal use. Maybe if you are running a webserver with hundred of thousands or millions of hits per month and take up a lot of processing, then you should consider investing...
With $10,000, budget I would...
Spend additional $2,000 on PC upgrade and
Get a Sony 760C Clie PDA or iPaq (Budget around $1K)
Budget the rest for a dedicated server at a hosting company hosting domains and sites : )
I still own a Plextor RX-412 (4X Write, 12 Read), its an external SCSI unit. This is my second burner. My first is a HP4020i (3rd refurbished unit from HP). Maybe its time I deserve an upgrade : )
Ideas ?
My Plextor is perfect BTW, just takes 20 mins / full burn.
Ultima,
Its not that hard. Just need to rewire your ends. Go this site that I had developed a while back to get information on the wire colors. That should do it.

I have 4 computers running 7/24/365. 2 computers runs without monitor (Used in Satellite Emulation :)). One used for file storage/CD Burning...etc. Final one is my main PC I use at a daily basis. Living in a 1900 SQ FT house, our electric bill is around CDN$50+ per month. My wife saves a...
I love Plextor. Still have my $700+ burner running perfectly... an External Plextor 412 CDR (SCSI). 4X Burn Speed. I guess I'll change my burner when I have more data to deal with such as burning multi copies of CDs for "backup".
Hence, if you pity me DONATE to me for a new burner :). I...
Can someone recommend me a good video card for my Asus P5A-B. It is currently running
on a 2MB Diamond Stealth 2D 2000 with 196MB and AMD K6-3 400. I have been reading up
on asus newsgroup and poeple have been recommending cards like Voodoo Banshee,
Matrox G200. This board seems to have an...
I am a Plextor believer. Yes I bought my Plextor 4X 12X CDR (Not CDRW) SCSI - External for over CDN$700, 3 years ago. It is still working fine and still happy with it. Even burn PSX nicely :). Before the plextor I owned a HP4020i, and that is a JUNK. If you're going for the long term buy...

For months I have been looking for a PDA, finally got one in Dec 2001. Most people in the PDA world would
tell you to get the Sony Clie model. I got myself a Sony Clie 320 (Uses Palm O/S), because it has 8MB RAM and expandable with Sony memory stick (Up to 128MB). 128MB on a PDA is A LOT...
Hi
I am back to the topic of mixing RAMS. Just recently aquired a piece of 512MB Crucial RAM (CAS3 I believe). Had some old SDRAM lying around now (2X64MB = 128MB). Both of them are PC100 (SIEMENS and LGS).
Question:
Is it better off for me to have 512 Crucial + 64 Siemens + 64 LGS = 640MB...
