Did anyone else get in on this deal and end up having the order backordered? I ordered on Dec 20, and I got another delay email.. shipping date is now: Jan 17th (!)
Hopefully they aren't playing games trying to get me to cancel the order.
I got a sterlingtek battery for my S400 and it's been working fine for those emergencies when my OEM battery runs out. It looks like they replaced the contents of an NB-1L (older model S400 battery) with a 950 mAh battery.
Just wanted to draw your attention to a post I made back in January describing how to get free credit reports (participating states only) from the credit bureaus:

Just for the paranoid-minded folks out there: I picked up one of these phones a while back and one day I was listening to music on my 900mhz wireless earphones while someone was using the phone. Needless to say, there is no security on these phones.. I was listening to the whole phone...
You might also want to try a Lucent Wavelan card. From my experience, Lucent cards beat the pants off of linksys and older cisco 340 cards in terms of range.

Theoretically, the range of an 802.11a access point will be less than an 802.11b because of the simple fact that 802.11a runs at 5Ghz (shorter range) and 802.11b runs at 2.4Ghz.

arrrg! This is so tempting.. I've been wanting to try one of these out since I found out about them 1.5 years ago.
For anyone who has already received their unti: How functional is the on-screen keyboard?

Doesn't look like too much of a deal..
On pricewatch, I found a SuperMicro SuperServer 5011E 1U Black rackmount server, with FDD and CD ROM, NO CPU for $439.
Also from pricewatch:
Pentium 3 1.13 Gig -- $123
256MB (PC133) memory -- $27
40GB hdd -- $54
Total estimate: $643 (w/o shipping costs)...
Just fyi, the Compaq wireless PC card is a rebadged Orinoco Gold card.
EDIT: actually, now I'm not sure. The Compaq WL110 is an Orinoco Gold card. A picture of the WL110 is here.
The Compaq card on the bestbuy.com website looks different here.
humm
So, I wanted to buy a book from Barnes & Noble and I noticed that there is free shipping if you buy two items. 3-8 day ground shipping came to $3.99. Just hop over to the Bargains Under $5.00 section and pick something like "Mistresses of the Dark" for $2.48 and you've saved $1.50 on shipping...
<< But I am curious on what people expect to do with this thing if its wireless. Why would you want to surf the web or IM or whatever if your computer is probably only a few feet away? (Im sure i'm missing the point so clue me in...) >>
Public 802.11b access points can be found in many open...
It's been a couple business days since I replied to the email to reinstate my order ... still no new order # in my account. I think I'll call tomorrow just to make sure I have a new order.
Update: Called up today -- took 17 minutes and got the order reinstated. Seems like they aren't...
Looks like a good deal!
Does anyone have any reviews on this phone? I keep hearing that 2.4ghz phones are not as good as 900mhz and that they don't play nice with 802.11b networks.
CKDragon: I don't think ordering your credit report affects your credit score.
From the Trans Union FAQ (http://www.transunion.com/Personal/ManagingCreditFAQ.asp#q9):
How often should I check my credit report?
It is good to check your credit report once every 90 days. This allows enough time...
The SKYY Vodka Free Poster Giveaway is now closed for the day.
Check back Thursday Jan. 24th at 1:30 pm.
Current time is Thursday Jan. 24th 11:37 pm.
Doh!
Let me start out by saying that this topic has been discussed as recently as November 2001, but I felt like the info given in those threads was incomplete.
Since I have recently received my credit report online for free (Maryland resident), I thought I'd just share my experience with the rest...
Just curious..
Why does it suck if the site accepts Paypal only?
You can use a credit card and don't need to be a Paypal member (from what it looks like -- I've never used Paypal)

I finally broke down and became a forum member after 2 1/2 years of scouring the Anandtech hot deals! woo!
