7900GT reporting as PCI-Express X2?

When I am looking at my video card properties, for some reason it reports the bus as PCI-Express x2... shouldn't it say PCI-Express x16? I have a DFI Lanparty Ultra-D (non-SLI) and an XFX GF7900GT. Click here for image.

Usually my stock amd hsf doesn't make any noise, but lately, it makes a slight buzzing sound when it first turns on (few seconds) and as it's turning off and slowing down. When it hits full RPM, it's silent. There are no cords blocking it or anything... should I worry about it?

Antec "Fan only" connectors?

Does anyone know how to properly use the "fan only" connectors on the Antec Performance Plus line of cases? The manual says they are adjusted depending to thermal conditions. I believe I have to connect a thermal cord from the PSU to the mobo for it to work properly, otherwise the fans don't...

STATUS REPORT: My New Rig

I really hate to have to re-install the heatsink... it only goes on one way, and it's attached very firmly (you can't move it... it's firmly around the lugs). Anyone else have an opinion?

Voltages OK?

On AsusProbe, it says my +5 is at 4.999.... the other ones are either a few tenths/hundreths over or under. Is that ok?

QUICK! Asus A7V333 Question!

I just built a new PC with the Asus A7V333 Mobo and didn't set any jumpers. I left all of them at default (JumperFree) mode, and left everything to auto/default in the bios (except the cpu frequency which I set to 133, so my athlon 1900+ shows up correctly as 1.6ghz.) Is this ok?

Ok, thanks guys! Oh, and about the case cooling; I have 2x Antec rear exhaust, 1x Antec side exhaust, and 2x Thermaltake intake (one of which blows over the hard drive bay). So yeah, the case is pretty chilly.

A7V333's custom back plate

The asus a7v333 comes with a custom plate for the back of the motherboard (for usb and ps/2 and crap)... how do I install this into my ATX case? There's already a standard plate there.

The CPU comes with a thermal pad thingy. That's good, right? My friend built his so he's coming to help me. I built the one I'm currently on, but it was when I was like 14 and my dad helped me and my dad dropped the mobo so I have bad memories. "Naw, it's fine, son. Go get me another Miller."

I don't want to buy suck systems from places... even like with custom configurators, they don't tell me exactly what brands are going in. I mean, how hard is it really? For each person posting on anandtech with problems, there's prolly 20 who are fine.

Help with AMD Athlon 1800....

It has nothing to do with your cooling solution. Remember, the retail HSF/thermal pad is made by AMD... obviously it has to be sufficient. Look at this, from AMD's website: . Typically, the maximum operating temperatures for Socket A AMD Athlon? and AMD Duron? desktop processors are 90 degrees...

Frequency/voltage settings HELP

I just got a new computer (Athlon 1900+, A7V333), and am having a hard time figuring out what to set the voltage/frequency for. This is what I have so far: 1.) The CPU Frequency should be set to 133Mhz (not overclocking), right? 2.) The voltage... I have no idea. Should I just leave it how it is?

Samsung PC2700 512 with Asus A7V333?

I was browsing over the A7V333's manual, and saw that it says to only use "approved" DDR 333 sticks. It has the Samsung PC2700 256 module listed, but not the 512. Will I be ok?

How hot should my 1900+ get, safely?

So there is absolutely no foreseeable problems? I'd hate to use an off-brand HSF and void my warranty. Besides, the Asus won't let it overheat. And if it does, AMD can happily replace it for free.
