setting u ftp server?

I haven't used war ftp but I believe u can lock the user to their home directory, and/or only grant the neccessary permission (ie: list/read) to that home folder and its sub folders. Don't forget passwords are transferred in plain text for ordinary ftp ;)

setting up IIS on XP PRO

are u running any firewall (ie: the one that comes with XP) ? if so u need to open the port 80 also, u can try to access the website from your other computer in the LAN, see if ur IIS is configured properly or not hope this helps, gl

I'm fairly new to server stuff too, but I think it'll be much better to devote your time/effort locking down your IIS rather than hiding your ip :) Sooner or later your IP will be exposed or found, but if ur machine is properly locked down it'll be "safe" assuming u don't put confidential info...

MSI 845GE MAX low memory utilization help!

hi guys, I just got my new box last day, and I found out that Sandra2003 is saying that my mem bandwidth is only about 1600M/sec, which is very low since my memory bus is at 333Mhz (also according to sandra). I'm running win2k server on this box now. Any idea what's causing this? Edit - I just...

P4B266-C 1.6A -- Can't O/C @ 133MHz BIOS Setting

because the USB1.0 cannot handle the FSB at such high speed. (but USB2.0 can)

maybe it's worth checking the temp of the CPU. It could be the HSF being malfunctioning. P.S. does your son hit the computer each time he got killed in the game? :D

my 1.6A seems to have hit the wall...but why?

It may be the case that the CPU has hit its limit, just remember not all CPUs have the same "potential" to get insanely o/c-ed. 1.6A@2.1Ghz is already a 33% o/c! not bad at all! if u still wanna push the limit, maybe u can try upping the voltage more (u have to set the jumper for "extra" high...

Ummm... something's really wrong here?!

do u mean ur box gets a constant 45% CPU usage when the hdd is accessed? btw, do u get the same reading in the task manager in winXP ?

Could someone explain cpu burn in to me plz?

I think it's just like stressing ur o/c-ed system continously for a time period with programs like Sandra/Prime95 to see if the machine is stable. Not 100% sure if that's what u mean by "burn in"

what's the most important voltage to check for o/c?

hi guys I have a 2.0a@2.2 (yeah, i know it sux, i can't get my FSB > 120) and P4B266 I was wondering which voltage values (+3.3, +5, +12...etc) are important to monitor? All my voltage values are pretty close to the default one, except the +12, which MBM5 gives a value of 11.20-11.25 on...

Should I bother overclocking...

pitch, don't expect too much from ur new XP system if you're gonna stick with the PC133 ram, cuz ur CPU won't get enough data to process because of the (very) limited memory bandwidth I haven't seen any benchmarks of XP + SDR ram, but I'm quite sure it'll disappoint u if compare to the DDR settings

I'm using MBM5 with P4B266, I am not sure if my readings are correct tho I assume "asus 1" as the mobo sensor and "asus 2" is for the CPU ("asus 2 culs" won't work) But there's one strange thing, that is, my cpu temp is measured in a unit of 4 degree. For instance, the readings toggles from 24...

How do I enable "turbo 1" with my Asus P4B266?

I used SiSoft Sandra 2002 to test the speed of my PCI/AGP when my FSB is set to 110 they run at 37/74Mhz respectively WITH Turbo 1 enabled...that means it doens't really lock the ratio as someone has suggested

Asus P4B266 Turbo 1/2 mode

What exactly do the Turbo 1/2 mode (in the mem setting) do in P4B266? Anyone knows? Also, i'm using Motherboard Monitor 5 (MBM 5), why is my CPU temp measured in a unit of 4degree (ie: 24, 28,32 but never 31..etc) ? I assume "sensor 2" is the CPU temp since it varies the most after...

I'm using AS2 and P4 volcano HSF. I tried pushing the FSB to 133 after a week of "burn in" period, but it doens't help. I guess i had a bad start for my first o/c experience

P4B266 & 1.8A Northwood Settings Questions

I have the same difficulty in getting into 133 FSB, I can at most get to 120, I can't boot up to Win2k when i try 121 (and the machine won't post for 133 like what u experienced)...I've also tried upping the voltage for Vcore and DDRRAM, it didn't help either. P.S. My cpu is 2.0A

Buy Geforce3 now or wait for Geforce4?

It's hard to keep waiting and waiting for the new tech to come, like wade said. Remember, Nvidia has a 6 months update cycle, so 3 months after the ti4200 is out, the "new" GF4 series will be around the corner, then u'll ask urself the same question "geez, should I wait further?" Sure, if u can...

yeah, the major improvement is about speed, but t's not just a few fps improvement :) With enough powerful for the vid card, u can crank up the res + using AA without scacrificing too much fps, that's what most of us want essentially It also fixes the DXTC problem that GF3 is having.

I'm lookin for new cpu/mobo I need some advice!

I think u can get a XP1500 for a little more than the Tbird 1.33Ghz, it's only 10 US more (in pricewatch.com) It should be better in terms of o/c-ability and performance Just my 0.02

question about o/c-ing GF3 ti200

hi guys, When I o/c the FSB to 110Mhz, I know that everything like the AGP/PCI/IDE is o/c-ed. For my Gainward GF3 Ti200, the program (that came with gainward) says it still runs at 200/450. shouldn't it be 220/495? Or the actual core/mem speed is independent with FSB for vid cards? Thx in advance

To extreme2k: The mem runs at 133Mhz (266 effectively), which is the default speed of PC2100 DDR. I even tried running the DDR @ 146Mhz (FSB=110Mhz and use 3:4 ratio for the DDR) and it runs fine. To Cold: I don't really know much about CPU temp, but it seems that my CPU temp doens't really...

Whether I run the CPU @2.0/2.2/2.4Ghz, the temp (shown in the AsusProb, the monitoring program) is always 40C (idle). I didn't run any benchmarking, but after hrs of playing CS and other stuff the temp is always 40C...dunno if it's good or bad. The mobo temp is 28-30C, in case u wanna know. For...
