hmmm i see, that could be a problem....
why would the beta still be available for install on windows update AFTER installing SP1, thats really misleading!
Quick question regarding these video cards....
I replaced my Visiontek Ti 4600 with Radeon 9700... Before installing the new card into my machine I uninstalled Nvidia Display Drivers from the Add/Remove Programs and shut down... After the swap, Installed ATI drivers and ran 3d mark without a...
First off the souncard I use is the turtle beach santa cruz thats works fine. (In mp3, DiVx, CD Audio, Gaming...)
I ran windows update a couple days ago and installed a couple things... XP SP1 and Media Player 9... Yes I know its beta but I expected better than this from microsoft!
Problems I...
Hello all, this concern has been on my mind for quite some time. Did the research? Of course... Still have the missing something feeling.
PC Barebones:
Pentium 4 - 2.4B w/ 533 FSB
Intel DMV850E Motherboard
Kingston 1GB 1066 RDRAM
Visiontek Ti4600 Geforce4
Im thinking this setup is capable of...
You want fast and stable correct? Then dont overclock. First, it wears down components over a long period of time, perfomance boost is not worth the aggravation IMO. Also its not guarenteed, everything comes down to luck.
Here is my suggestion for a quiet, fast, stable solution:
CPU - Retail...
My vote goes for the IBM, I was talking with my tech bud at falcon Northwest the other day and went into a discussion about RAID. Following his advice in regards to the performance numbers given by 120GXP's, definately reconsider your options. IBM has done alot of research and developement to...
I also would like to know this answer. I currently run p4 2.4 w/retail HSF and 3x Panaflo 80mm Low Speed Fans. My optical drives are the loudest components in my rig, Pioneer 16x DVD-116 (Tray Load) and Plextor 40x CDRW. After using 16x Toshiba DVD I find that the Pioneer is quieter but still...
I also have a vote for a 16x DVD drive, sooner or later you'll need it. Definately recommend getting the Western Digital Sprecial Edition "JB Series" with 8meg cache. Awesome performer! I have one and lovin it!
I have a question concerning AA and anisotropic filtering. I currently have 4xAA enabled with anisotropic disabled. Can both be used at once?
Is there a balance or will one always overpower the other? Im so confused..
thanks for the prompt reply, these are the tabs he has after clicking the advanced button... General, Adapter, Monitor, Troubleshoot, Color Management and thats it. No ti4200! Thats why we aren't able to change settings on this card. Thanks for your help
wingznut, I appreciate the advice but thats the problem.... After clicking advanced inside the display settings, there should be approx 8 tabs but half are missing and that includes Geforce4 Ti4200.... Mentioned earlier tried to reinstall but no luck.
Hello everyone. My friend built his PC this week and has a few questions.
<U>Barebones</U>:
Pentium 4 1.8A
Abit BD7 I845D Mobo
512MB Mushkin PC2100
Gainward GF4 Ti4200
After installing the video card he doesn't have the ability to change advanced settings such as AA, direct 3D, Open GL, etc...
Well what exactly is your definition of superior? When one person goes out shopping for a motherboard they ask themselves a few questions such as, what brand they prefer? cost? features? compatibility? and most importantly what you need! Anyways I will try to make this about as blunt and to the...
Whats up everyone, just wanted to get a little feedback about my latest pc revision.
Without any delay, the specs:
Lian Li PC-61 Adonized Black
Enermax 431w Power Supply
3x Panaflo L1A Fans
Intel D850EMV2 Mobo
P4 2.4ghz w/533 FSB
1GB Kingston PC1066
VisionTek GF4 Ti4600
SantaCruz Sound Card...
FYI I did drop a visit in the mobo forum and to correct you, they were talking about kingston not mushkin. Also I would like to add that its really sad when I company rushes products out the door (especially ASUS) to be first on shelves and these are the results...
ARGHH!!! This is turning into a nightmare. I've received another call from the mushkin tech today before I started my second day of troubleshooting...... He talked with another rep (different company) currently testing the Asus board with mushkin ram. The information given to him was in regards...
lets recap on today's troubleshooting shall we....
First off, I continuously swiched the memory dimms around without any luck then removed two sticks and filled the empty dimms with c-rimms. When I started the PC w/ that configuration I didn't receive any beep post errors BUT nothing appears on...
new config as in removing sticks because the possibility of defective ram or just switching them around in the dimms...... just want more suggestions. I apologize, not familiar on how to troubleshoot this post error, never had this problem in previous builds.
As the title states, I put together my rig on friday night with hopes of having a kick-a$$ system. Every Intel fan out there probably is well informed about the Asus P4T533-C mobo equipped with the I850E chipset supporting both PC800/PC1066 RDRAM. The only brands of PC1066 RDRAM I found...
LOL your right about the name... Video Card is up in question, I have a Visiontek G4 Ti4600 but its defective and will be RMA'd ... I'm debating on keeping the same brand or switching to gainward.
yes I believe compusa is selling thermal compond looking similiar to arctic silver but lacks in performance, I've used it personally. Don't get me wrong, I've read the fraud report and didn't expect miracles from this stuff but I will tell you that it works better than standard paste w/out the...
talking about the Abit TH7-II Raid, I orignally paid $164. I switched back to AMD, I had to sell for less than the $122 price tag on Newegg, I sold it today for $100. Sucks to loose $64 on board that I used for 2 weeks!
thanks for the suggestions but im still stuck on a a couple things. Would you suggest just replacing the 2 intake and leaving the H1A exhaust alone or do the 7-volt mod on all the fans... Also I am kinda worried about my CPU temps, would changing two or all three fans to lower voltages or...
I currently have a PC thats quite noisy, the case fans I'm using are panaflo H1A's. (2 intake, 1 exhaust)
Would it make sense to replace my two intake fans with panaflo L1A's?
Thanks,
Frozen
The story begins about a month ago when I put together my dual mp2000+ rig based on the Tyan MPX mobo. First I decided to ditch the retail heatsinks and picked up a couple of SVC GC68 (using standard paste included) My temps weren't that impressive. Using the tyan temp monitor I was getting...
ok.... sorry for the previous hogwash. I did some research on memory dumps @ www.technet.com and I found out that each time the PC crashes, a .dmp (memory dump file) is written. My debugging info settings under system --> Advanced --> Startup and Recovery are as follows... Small Memory dump...
update! i experienced my first BSOD since turning off the automatic restart feature:
first part was BS about making sure you have enough free space on the hard drive and make sure you have the latest mobo bios and turn off BIOS shadow... etc....
then a long string of numbers.... followed by...
i have a general question when it comes to removing the pad from the die. BTW i use a credit card then clean up using a Q-tip with Rubbing Alcohol. When I do this, is it necessary to be perfect? It never fails, I can only get about 90% of that darn pad off my CPU.
My question is this: If my mobo only supports up to PC2100 and doesn't have the ability to O/C, will i get better memory performance from higher rated DDR?
everyone thanks again for your input... I will disable the auto restart and lets see if I can diagnose my BSOD... I haven't had a restart in a few days, im guessing it shouldn't be a very serious issue I should worry myself over.
sounds like my issue... I have G4ti4600... When my machine restarts there isn't a BSOD or error message. I just wonder if this is a video driver problem. I'm using the latest available from nvidia.
Thanks for info duke.
