Need MB suggestions with difficult requirements

networking solution between buildings?

thanks for all the replies! Here's some more info. 802.11 is probably enough for us. We aren't transferring a whole lot of data as it is. The two buildings DO have LOS to each other. Windows are facing each other in clear view. There might be a potential problem with trucks blocking LOS...

Grr! My wireless router needs to be rebooted every hour! hELP!

Hey Dan, I have the exact same mobo and cpu (OEM). I got an alpha 8045 with sunon fan and Artic 3 silver thermal compound. I get around 38 C idle and 41 C after a few hours of high intensity max payne. My mobo temp is around 28 C. 60 + is really high... I've heard that the stock HSF is ok...

Is the Liteon LTD-163 DVD drive fully compatible with WinXP right out of the box?

I just bought a Liteon 16x dvd. I don't know if it is the same one that you are asking about, but my Liteon was fully compatible with XP right out of the box.

8500LE queries

I just bought one on Sat. It is 230/230 :( I have it now at 240/240 with no poblems and I am sure it can go higher. Related to this, what has other people got it up to? Also, what kind of cooling solution did you use? Happie

Dumb DVD Question

It isn't a stupid question. Perfectly valid. It shouldn't give you any problems with your vid card. I personally don't have a hollywood card, but when I was researching about it, I came upon lots of reviews. From the reviews, they say that the card DOES degrade image quality, so be warned...

What Digital Camera would you get?

I have a Canon s300 which I took to Europe on a backpacking trip. It is a fantastic camera. It didn't complain one bit as it was bumped and bruised within my backpack. Pictures were great. The body is solid metal which adds to the weight, but it is small and lighter than other digi cameras...

Is the geforce 4 being sold yet?

The thing is that I'm going to get a new box. Since the gf4 ti4200 is faster than the gf3 ti500 and 8500 and also around $200, it is acutally cheaper than the ti500 or the 8500. Guess I will wait until it comes out... Happie

looking for some upgrade advice

I asked the HD question to the community and they have responded in favour of Seagate 'cuda IV. The main advantage this has is that it is one of the quietest drive out there. You could also get the Diamond Max special edition with the 8MB buffer, but that would cost a pretty penny.

thanks all. Lxi, isn't the lite on and pioneer drives 10x read for DVD anyways? Isn't 8x pretty good for the pioneer? Does the speed of the dvd rom truly matter at that speed for playing dvd movies?
