i did try all defaults, and reset the CMOS
you know, upgrades are so cheap, i ended up ordering a new combo from newegg. still bugs me though, wish i knew what was wrong.
Had my old combo lying around, and need to build a budget setup with it. Got it all together and installed windows. Everything seemed fine. Restarted and it wont read the HD.
In the bios i have to refresh the HD for it to identify it. But after doing that, it still wont start up properly...

i have that exact ram but i bought a dual channel kit. the only problem i had was one stick arrived dead. their customer service is great though. i ordered the kit from newegg.
the one stick i am using for now is running 3-3-2-5 1T @ DDR460 so thats a good sign.
