Poor performance with a router

Home Networking Dilema

According to the Microsoft website, as long as their are no special characters or spaces in the shared printer name, the ME computer should interact with the printer. I guess I need to check for better drivers. I will also verify that thw printer will work with this older computer, even though...

I have beenm invaded!

I am certainly going to heed to any advise. I do not wish to have to go through this again. I will have to do some troubleshooting to see exactly how many operating systems that I have. If I now have two installations of XP, I need to make sure I do not select the problematic one.

The system was so problematic that I had to re-install XP. I had several folders of junk that kept giving me an "access denied" message whenever I tried to delete them. No other programs were running when I was trying to delete them, so I do not know why they would not delete. I have a dual boot...

I have beenm invaded!

I have been invaded by what appears to be spyware and popup adds. I downloaded something by mistake and have lost control over my own computer. I did a disk clean up and deleted 1,135 cookies. My task manager shows 43 processes running, could some of the culprits be residing in there too? Thanks.:)

Just curious??

I was not aware that would happen with a hard drive that was not partitioned. At any rate, I deleted the second option and all is well. Except for determining what corrupted the os in the first place. Thanks again.:)

Just curious??

I reloaded Windows XP Home after it became corrupted and wound up with what appears to be a dual boot screen. The hard drive is not partitioned. I edited the second option out and all is well. I was just curious as to how this happened....Thanks for the repsonse.

200GB drive not functioning... am I screwed??

I cannot help much, but I think the freezer would be a very bad idea. When the drive warms up to ambient temperature, condensation will collect inside the hard drive. Condensation inside electronic componenets is not a very good idea. There used to be companies that specialized in retrieving...

Any ideas?

It has burned some playstation games just fine, and locked up on others. The problem may be intermittent, but when it starts, it makes a bunch of coasters. I just finished another retry, and I have a new shiny coaster that was supposed to be a video cd.

Yes I do.:) The only thing that comes to my mind is that the music cd's are smaller in size, and contain no video. Other than that, I am clueless why it will not work on my 1.6, and works fine on my wifeys cheesy 633. She thinks that is very funny.....lol

Skip, Well, I tried putting the burner as the master with the same result. The burner inicated it wants to write, but there is no hard drive activity.Everything freezes after the lead-in is burned.I am assuming this is a function of the software, so that explains why it gets that far. I...

Any ideas?

Thanks for the tip. I would have had to remove my burner and cdrom, and switch them to get the cable connectors to match up right. I seem to remember years ago, with floppy drives, that it did matter.I think it had something to do with the twist in the cable. Thanks again.

Any ideas?

Skip, Can you explain why I would want my burner as the master on the secondary channel instead of the slave?. The manual said that slave is the normal if used in conjunction with a cdrom. Just looking for info. Thanks.:)

nic works but doesn't?

I'm not a guru,but I had a similar (not exact) problem. I forced the NIC to operate at 10Mb/s instead of letting it autonegiotiate. This cleared up my problem.It might help yours...........Good luck.

You nailed it. I only had a minute to troubleshoot before work.I set the NIC to 10Mb/s and it worked right away.I will see if it will work at any other speed tomorrow.Is this a common problem,and does it need to be corrected?....Thanks a ton!!!!!!

Can't access Linksys WAP/Router config utility

I had the same problem with my Linksys router.My dsl modem was assiging an addy that was not in the range of addys that the router would accept to get me to the set up page. The first response explains what to do better than I could....good luck....:)
