Being a Compaq it, more than likely, came with a restore disk that should be used instead of reformatting. That way you don't have to go crazy looking for the correct drivers.
I've had a queen size (5X7 feet) waterbed since 1984. I find it so comfortable that I wouldn't go back to a flat bed.
I have Degerative Disk Disease in my lower back and I now find even the better flat mattresses to be very uncomfortable.
The temperature control is great. Setting the...
I used fdisk on a Maxtor 60 GIG hard drive to remove and create paritions and now fdisk, the DOS command line, Windows 98, Windows XP, and Partition Magic 8 all see it as a 30 GIG. Any ideas on how to reset it to a 60 GIG?
Let's see if I got this right.
YOU got real excited and started throwing a semi-rotten, frozen pork chop around like a thermal detonator. It hit your case, and broke the fan! So You threw a bucket of dehydrated water on it, and now it wont work!
And you want to sue them ????
I just flashed the BIOS to the latest and updated Windows XP with everything there was available for it and it all made no difference. My next, and last, idea is to replace the sound card itself. I'm planning to go with a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card and hopefully it will solve the problem.

That's exactly what I figured but someone suggested I try another source other than Creative for them.
By the way the same thing happens when I install Windows 2K.
Does anyone know of anywhere other than Creative Labs where I can get drivers for Windows XP?
I have a Sound Blaster PCI 128 and it plays sound just fine in Windows 98SE but when I install Windows XP I get only garbled sounds when I try to play any audio file. The sound is fine when I use the...

I too would start with the power supply.
Something similar happened to me about 5 years ago when I pulled the power cable, with the system hot, to determine whether a particular hard drive was spinning. The power arced and then everything in the puter went dark and quiet. I did not know that a...
And the saga continues.
I tried the sound card in 2 different PCI slots resulting in absolutely no improvement in the sound quality. My next move will be to try another brand of sound card. Seriously considering a Santa Cruz.
Why don't you just take it back to where you bought it and have them repair it.
In Canada whenever a vehicle is sold, privately or by a dealer, it is expected to have a road worthiness certificate. If none is obtained the ownership and plate transfer does not take place. This ensures that the...
I recently bought a Lexmark Z33. I find it to be a very fast and quiet printer and was amazed at the quality of the printouts I get from it. It's not a laser but I find it a very good value for the price.
I did not bother with any washers when I installed my Asus A7V266 either since there is nothing near the stand offs to short out. Just made sure the brass stand offs were in the right places relating to the holes on the board and went to town.
I am using Windows 98 SE and I have had something delete the Windows\inf folder twice in last 2 days.
I first noticed it when I rebooted last evening and a grey Windows warning box came up on the screen telling me that conagent.exe could not be verified because the apps.inf file was missing...
I've been using Trillian for 2 or 3 weeks now and I find it a mixed blessing.
It avoids the neccessity of having multiple IMs running simultaniously but, unlike ICQ, you can only transfer one file at a time. The only way around that would be to zip multiple files into one file and send that...
WoodchuckCharlie, your explanation of the program was very good. You should look into writing software user manuals.
I use Morpheus on occasion to get music. I don't know of any particular security issues associated with it. To minimize any security problems I shut it down when I'm not using it...
You have to install the Tuner/Capture Software (which is a separate from the display driver). You can get it at myurl
Choose your OS and ATI card and click GO.
It could be the sound card it doesn't like. The last time I installed XP on it was on a Pentium 233 with 64 MEG or ram (the bare minimum requirements for it) and an old SB 16 card (pre PCI). It broke the Windows opening wav into 3 parts but didn't distort them. When playing mpgs the video...
