Good point. I totally agree. The larger caches on the new chips (1 to 2MB) will probably greatly negate the need or effect faster memory will have on overall system peformance.

ATi supposely went conservative on this one again. So the R420/423 will be much like the earlier cores, with perhaps a bigger pipe, definitely faster memory, and improved Pixel 3.0 shaders. We can only hope the NV40 has been rebuilt and not simply an extension of the NV3x cores. What worries...

But yeah, holy smokes do Californians get shafted on electricity. I know guys up here in RedDeer (Canada) who pay like less than $50Cdn (~$35US) a month and they have stuff running all the time. Lights on, computers running 24/7, etc... Better hope Ahhhnold doesn't pump up the elecricity bill...

And at high resolutions, a high AF is absolutely gorgeous. Anisotropic filtering actually looks better the higher your monitor resolution. I just wish I could run 128XAF instead of just 16xAF. AA antialiasing is not as important at high resolutions though, reducing jaggies is not as important...
